On this photo tour you go to discover Montenegro, considered as a jewel on the Mediterranean. The Balkan country has been independent since 2006. The coast of Montenegro measures 300 kilometres and the rest of the country’s surface belongs to the mountains. In this pretty little pearl between the Adriatic Sea and the mountains, you will find a varied and indescribable beauty away from the masses. Unspoilt nature, crystal-clear water on the Adriatic, beautiful lakes and spectacular mountains await you here.
The well-known highlights of the country are the fjord-like Bay of Kotor and the Durmitor National Park. On this tour, however, we also take you to insider spots that are usually only visited by locals. Our local guide knows the best photo locations in Montenegro and will take you to the right place at the best time.

The photo tours “Montenegro” and “Slovenia Autumn Colours” are timed to coincide and can be optimally combined. These two tours together give an incomparable insight into two of the most beautiful regions of former Yugoslavia. A treat for all those who enjoy photographing landscapes, mountains, nature, and Mediterranean towns.
When combining both tours, you have the choice of either travelling with our guide from Podgorica to Ljubljana (overnight along the way) or flying individually from Podgorica to Ljubljana (overnight in Ljubljana).
When booking both tours, you benefit from a combination discount of CHF 200 per person.

Some impressions of Montenegro
1
Day 1 – Arrival
Arrival at Podgorica airport and transfer to the hotel in Kotor. Meeting with the group in the afternoon. In the evening there will be the first photo session in Kotor town. Afterwards a dinner together.

Day 2 - The bay of Kotor
In the morning you will photograph the town of Kotor and have the opportunity to climb the town wall for a great views. Afterwards, time at leisure.
In the afternoon visit the town of Perast in the Bay of Kotor. A boat trip to the island of Lady of the Rocks is followed by dinner at a local restaurant. Return to Kotor for overnight stay.

Day 3 – From Kotor to Durmitor National Park
After breakfast, leave the town of Kotor behind and take the scenic route north to Durmitor National Park. First, stop in Perast to take advantage of the morning light illuminating the ancient town and islands.
Then you leave the coast and head into the mountains. In the afternoon you reach the quiet town of Žabljak and check into our hotel. In the evening, during the golden hour and sunset, capture first impressions with the camera of the mountains in Durmitor.

Day 4 - 6 – On the road in Durmitor National Park
We have two full days to explore Durmitor National Park and its surroundings. You will visit the Black Lake, one of the photographic highlights of the park, as well as some of the more hidden mountain lakes.
In the scenic surroundings, you will take your time to enjoy the breath-taking mountain views. Weather permitting, you will also visit some viewpoints above the Tara Canyon. It is considered the largest canyon in Europe and is one of the most spectacular canyons in the world.

Day 7 – End of Photo Tour Montenegro
After breakfast, transfer to Podgorica airport for your individual journey home or onwards.
Alternatively, you can continue to the start of the photo tour Slovenia. You have two options for this: Drive with our photo guide to Slovenia and stay overnight on the way or fly from Podgorica to Ljubljana, with overnight in Ljubljana.

Accommodation
Kotor
Our charming accommodation for the first two nights of the tour is located in the middle of the old town of Kotor. The 13th century building has been stylishly renovated and offers pretty rooms with cosy furnishings. All rooms have en suite bathrooms and include a TV, free WIFI, minibar and air conditioning.
Breakfast is served in the restaurant or on the terrace overlooking a quiet courtyard. The hotel restaurant specialises in international and traditional cuisine with famous Boka dishes. You can end the evening in the hotel's bar.
Durmitor National Park
Our accommodation is located directly at the Durmitor National Park and is therefore an ideal location to reach all the highlights of the park. You will spend four nights here. The four-star hotel has a modern design and offers 18 rooms. Each room is equipped with a lot of comfort and very modern. The en-suite rooms offer free WIFI, TV, and a minibar.
The hotel's restaurant serves a fine breakfast and, in the evening, a great selection of national and international specialities. You have wonderful views of the Durmitor mountain massif from the cosy lounge bar, with a comfortable atmosphere. The hotel also has a mini spa with a hammam, Finnish sauna, showers, and a room for massages.
