Patagonia Photo Tour

Patagonia enchants with wild and fantastic landscapes and is also famous for its population of pumas. This extraordinary Patagonia photo tour takes you to selected highlights in the Argentinean and Chilean part of Patagonia. Massive glaciers, idyllic lakes, rugged mountain peaks and the endless expanses of the pampas contribute to the diversity of photo motifs in southern Chile and Argentina.

You will visit the impressive Torres del Paine National Park and the impressive Torres del Paine National Park. Besides photographing the landscapes, you will go puma tracking in the Torres del Paine National Park. On this tour, you will also experience the traditional life of the gauchos and with a bit of luck, photograph a flying condor. Great wildlife pictures always require time, which we will certainly have on this tour. In each location we stay for several nights.

As on all our photo tours, also in Chile we work together with an exceptionally good local partner. This partner has many years of experience and is one of the pioneers in puma tracking. This Patagonia photo tour is accompanied by a renowned Chilean photographer with a long experience in photo travel in the region. She has previously worked as a guide in the Torres del Paine National Park and as a puma tracker.

On this tour we will take you to the most beautiful photo spots in Patagonia in order that you can take great photos of the unique landscape and wildlife.

What our clients say

We had to wait a long time before we could finally travel to Patagonia. But it was worth it in every respect. What an incredible 10 days we experienced in this unique landscape! Perfectly guided by Thomas Brühlmann, Cristina Harboe and the other local guides, we were able to let off steam photographically. But the highlight was definitely the 3 days of puma tracking. Here we were able to benefit from Rodrigo Moraga's many years of knowledge and photograph the animals at almost arm's length. I would love to go there again right away!

Day 1 - Arrival in El Calafate

You travel individually to El Calafate and are driven to the hotel upon arrival at the airport. After check-in, you will have some time to settle in comfortably in the hotel room or to rest a little after the long journey.
Afterwords, there will be a short introduction to the photo tour and you will have the opportunity to get to know your fellow travellers. The first day ends with dinner together in El Calafate.

Day 2 - Perito Moreno Glacier

After an early breakfast we will drive with a van to the Perito Moreno glacier. You will take a boat trip to the edge of the impressive glacier.
The Perito Moreno Glacier in Los Glaciares National Park is the only glacier that is not retreating at the moment. The impressive glacier tongue is about 60 meters high and more than 4 kilometres wide. Regularly, sometimes every hour, huge boulders of glacier come off the edge and crash thunderously into the water. An unparalleled spectacle that you capture with your camera.
Before returning to El Calafate, you will have some time to explore the surroundings. Return to the hotel for check-out. Afterwords we head towards Torres del Paine National Park. You will drive through the typical pampas landscape of Patagonia and cross the border into Chile. We reach Torres del Paine in the evening. Check-in at the accommodation and dinner together.

Day 3 - 5 – Landscape photography in Torres del Paine National Park

The Torres del Paine National Park is located at the far end of the Andes mountain range. With its impressive glaciers, turquoise and blue shimmering lakes, bizarre mountain formations and the typical steppe landscape of Patagonia, it is one of the most magnificent and wildest landscapes in the world. This rugged beauty of the national park enchants its visitors.
We explore different areas of the Torres del Paine National Park. You will be taken to the right places and fantastic viewpoints in order to take great pictures. A round trip to the Lago Grey glacier is also on the schedule. With a bit of luck, you will also photograph the wildlife of Torres del Paine.
You will benefit from the local know-how of our guides. They know every secret of the park and will lead you to the best highlights and insider photo spots in Torres del Paine. You will also gain an intensive insight into the local culture and life.

Day 6 – Life of the gauchos

After breakfast and check-out, you will drive to an estancia in Torres del Paine. Here you will experience the authenic life of the gauchos and take atmospheric photos of their traditional work. You will also have the oppoertunity to take impressive portraits.
After lunch, you will continue to our next location. After check-in at the hotel, you will have time for a short siesta. Later, there will be an introduction to puma tracking and dinner together.

Day 7 to 9 - Puma tracking in Torres del Paine

We will spend next days searching, observing, and photographing pumas. This region is considered one of the best places to see pumas in the wildness. The density of pumas is especially high here, not least because of the high and healthy population of guanacos.
Our local tracker will set off before us and then take us to the right places. Smaller hikes of up to about 2 - 3 km may be necessary. If weather conditions permit, we will have a picnic lunch at noon.
After numerous great photo experiences with the pumas, you will return to the hotel in the evening for dinner.

Day 10 - From the landscapes in Torres del Paine on to Punta Arenas

After breakfast you check out of the hotel. A transfer takes you along a beautiful road section to an estancia. On the way you will make numerous stops for great photos of the breathtaking landscape.
On the estancia, with a bit of luck, you will photograph a condor. The mighty black birds of prey are a great photo motif. Afterwards, the journey continues to Punta Arenas. Check-in and dinner together at the hotel.

Day 11 - End of the photo tour

Today after breakfast and check-out, you will drive to the airport in Punta Arenas. From here you will take your individual return flight to Santiago de Chile and from there your journey home or your individual onward journey.
