Frequently Asked Questions
For whom are photo tours suitable?
Our photo tours are suitable for anyone who loves photographing, travelling to amazing landscapes and experiencing nature and the animal world! If you occasionally snap a shot with your camera, or even if you are a committed, semi-professional photographer with an SLR camera – We have the right deal for you.
How much photographic expertise do I need to have?
Our trips are open to anybody who loves photography. The small group sizes enable us to provide care and support that is tailored to your requirements.
For beginners, certain technical points will be in main focus. You will then be taught how to use the various aperture and shutter speed settings correctly.
To get the most out of your tour, we recommend that you have a basic knowledge of shutter speed, aperture and ISO and that you can set these on your camera. Of course, you will then receive assistance for the correct settings on site.
If you have already mastered the technical basics, you can focus at the beginning on topics such as image composition, use of filters, or creative techniques such as panning or the ideal use of light.
If you have bought a new camera, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with how it works before you travel.
Can I bring my non-photographing friend/partner along on a photo tour?
Absolutely! Many of the photo tours are also suitable for non-photographing partners: e.g. a photo safari in southern Africa, India, Pantanal or a Svalbard expedition casts a spell over all nature and animal lovers. Or the culture, people and markets in Myanmar invite even non-photographers to marvel. We will gladly inform you of the various options for each photo tour.
How do I book my flights?
As our guests come from different places/countries, or often combine the photo tour with an individual follow-up programme, international flights are not part of the travel arrangement.
Amazing Views does not book flights. We concentrate on what we do best: the organization and realization of unique photo tours and photo workshops.
Of course, we will tell you which flights are the most suitable, or when you need to be on site and when you can leave again.
We recommend that you book the flights with a travel agency. In case of re-scheduling or flight cancellations, you will then have a competent partner at your side who will take care of the reorganization.
The travel agency Crew Travel will gladly take over the organisation of flights for you: https://www.crew-travel.ch/
Can I book half of a double room?
Single travellers can book half of a double room. If there is no other guest who wants to share the room, the single room surcharge will apply.
What happens in case of a bad weather?
The photo tours and photo workshops take place in all weather conditions. Even if the weather is cloudy or rainy, there are often exciting motifs to photograph. In case of bad weather, we will visit suitable photo locations and/or put more emphasis on theory.
Our events are planned in such a way that the conditions for e.g. northern lights or the visibility of the milky way are basically given. Whether one can see them depends then on the weather.
The visibility of natural phenomena (e.g. northern lights, Milky Way) or the sightings of animals cannot be guaranteed.
How does a photo tour work?
Our photo tours are designed to get you to the photo spots at the best possible time. We will often put together the exact day’s programme on site at short notice in order to take into account the weather and light conditions. The program will be designed flexibly to bring out the greatest possible potential of fantastic photos.
This means that you will be outdoors when the weather and light play along, especially at sunrise and sunset.
When travelling with the possibility to take pictures of the northern lights, you will also be outside after sunset or at night.
For wildlife photography, you are usually on safari from dusk in the early morning until around noon and in the late afternoon.
What does the Photo Guides do?
Our guides often live at the travel destination or have travelled there again and again over the years. We only hire professional photographers with extensive experience in the execution of photo tours. They will support you during the tours individually tailored to your needs and take care of your well-being. You are the focus of our attention. Bring your photography to the next level.
Most of our tours are accompanied by two guides. The local professional photographer is often supported by a photographer from our team. This way we ensure a close supervision ratio (often 1:4 to max. 1:6).
What is the language used on the tours?
Most of our tours are conducted in German and English. If a tour is led exclusively by a local photo guide, the language is English. Details can be found in the descriptions for our various trips.
Do I need an insurance?
We strongly recommend that you take cancellation costs insurance and insurance that covers the costs of medical care abroad, including evacuation and repatriation to your home country in an emergency.
What is the cancellation policy?
In case of cancellation of the tour by you, processing fees and cancellation costs will be charged according to our terms and conditions: https://amazingviews.ch/allgemeine-geschaftsbedingungen
