Autumn is prime time to visit the park; there are fewer tourists, the sun is lower creating nice angles, and forests are ablaze with every colour imaginable. Explore the charming old town of Rovinj on the Istrian Peninsula and visit the Roman amphitheatre at Pula, get close ups of stunning architectural details and capture the colour and bustle of life in the enchanting cobbled streets.

Day 1 – Arrival to Rovinj

Arrive Zagreb airport and group transfer to Istria (approx. 3-hour drive). We’ll arrive in time to make the most of the afternoon and evening light for photography.

Days 2 to 3 – Rovinj and Istria

We have two days to explore and photograph Istrian peninsula. Having made the most of early morning light in Rovinj, we’ll drive out to visit some of the many charming Istrian hilltop towns making the most of our vantage point to capture stunning panoramas. We’ll return for an evening shoot in Rovinj and to soak up the atmosphere of its bustling harbor, winding narrow streets and lively squares.

Day 4 – Rovinj to Plitvice Lakes

After breakfast we say farewell to Istria and drive to a stunning natural park - Plitvice Lakes. We’ll head straight to the park after check in, for our evening photography and sunset shoot. Capture amazing images of the fairytale-like landscapes, ablaze with the most beautiful autumn colours.

Day 5 and 6 – Plitvice Lakes

We’ll have two days to photograph the lakes, waterfalls and caves in this incredible UNESCO world heritage site. Here you’ll have the opportunity to try different photography techniques using tripods and long exposures as well as work on composition. Enjoy free time exploring the lakes alone before meeting late afternoon to make the most of the play of golden light and reflections in the water.

Day 7 – End of Photo Tour

Morning photography in the park. We will visit one of the sunrise locations at Plitvice lakes or head to nearby Rastoke village where the Korana river created another set of beautiful waterfalls and cascades. Transfer to Zagreb airport to catch your flight home.

Rovinj or Motuvun

During our stay in Istria you'lle sleep in a charming high quality hotel in Rovinj or Motovun. Both places are perfectly located to reach the most scenic photo locations of Istria.

Plitvice Lakes

We are staying in a charming Bed & Breakfast in Plitvička Jezera. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar. Every room at this bed and breakfast is air conditioned and comes with a flat-screen TV. Certain rooms have a seating area where you can relax. Certain units include views of the lush forest and creeks. Every room has a private bathroom equipped with a shower. For your comfort, you will find free toiletries and a hairdryer.

Plitvice Lakes National Park Entrance 3 is 500 m from Plitvica River House.

Fitness level

The exact daily program will be put together on short notice while on location, so that we can take into consideration the current weather and light conditions. In order to capture images at the right time and with the best light during the golden and blue hour, we will be out and about especially during the times of sunrise and sunset. In between, during lunch time and in the afternoon, you will have time at your own disposal. You can relax, explore the area or participate in our photo discussion and tutorials. Upon request or if we have fantastic weather and light conditions, we can also add another photo session in the afternoon.

Double room

Single travellers can book half of a double room. If there is no other guest who wants to share the room, the single room surcharge will apply.

Entry requirements Croatia

Swiss, German and Austrian citizens need a valid identity card or passport to enter Croatia. The documents must be valid until the end of the trip.

Insurance

We strongly advise you to purchase insurance for cancellation and return journey costs, which will be needed in the event of a secluded region being evacuated, a local hospital stay or return travel costs to your home country.
