During the Provence photo tour, you will discover the Valensole plateau during the peak of the lavender blossom. A purple sea of blossoms stretches in many places to the horizon. A feast for the eyes of every photographer. Look forward to breathtakingly luminous lavender fields and photograph them at the most beautiful times of day, in the golden light of sunset or sunrise.

During the photo tour Provence, you will discover the scenic plateau of Valensole with its endless expanses, huge lavender fields and scattered farms. The area is part of the largest continuous lavender growing area in France. The buzzing of busy bees and the scent of lavender are omnipresent here. In addition, you will also discover pretty Provençal villages.

Good to know

The landscape on the Valensole Plateau is always changing. The lavender fields remain standing for 3-5 years at a time. Afterwards, the field is planted with cereals or similar crops to allow the soil to recover. New lavender fields are created next to them. So the photo locations change constantly over the years. Before each trip, we carefully research the current situation. Among other things, we visit the fields 1-2 days before the photo trip begins in order to get an up-to-date picture. This ensures that we are able to bring our guests to the right place at the right time.

Day 1

You will travel individually to Marseille airport. You should arrive no later than 14:00.
Afterwards, you will drive comfortably to our hotel not far from the high plateau of Valensole. After checking in at the hotel and moving into your room, you will receive an introduction to the week ahead.
If the weather cooperates, you will have the opportunity to capture the lavender fields in the best light already on the first evening.

Day 2 to 5

During the next few days, you will visit various photogenic lavender fields to photograph them in the best light conditions. There are also other photo excursions on the plan, for example to small towns or other highlights that the region has to offer.
The exact program for each day will be put together on site at short notice in order to be able to respond to the respective weather and light conditions. To ensure that you can take pictures at the right time with the right light in the golden and blue hours, we will be out and about especially at sunrise and sunset. In between, after breakfast or in the early afternoon, you will have free time to rest or participate in optional tutorials or image discussions.
Depending on the phase of the moon and current weather conditions, there is also the possibility of photographing the Milky Way.

Day 6

Today the photo tour ends after breakfast and you will be driven to Marseille airport in time.

Our hotel is located in a pretty Provençal village right at the entrance to the old town. It is the perfect base to reach the Valensole plateau in just a few minutes' drive. The hotel offers modernly designed and air-conditioned rooms, perfect for taking a little rest from the summer heat at night and during breaks. The accommodation's garden offers a beautiful pool and views of the old town and the village's castle. Breakfast is rich and excellent and during fine weather, it is served in the hotel's secluded garden.  

Arrival and departure

You should arrive at Marseille Airport no later than 14:00 on the first day. On the last day, your return flight should not depart before 12:00. The transfer from/to Marseille airport is included in the flight connections recommended by us. It is also possible to travel to Provence individually by car and meet the group directly at the hotel.

Condition

The tour does not have any special physical demands. However, you should be fit enough to participate in short hikes and walks to the photo locations.

Meals

During the photo tour we will have early dinners in restaurants. Depending on the planned photo location, dinner can also be a picnic or takeaway.

Photo tour itinerary

We will arrange the exact daily program on location at short notice to be able to respond to the respective weather and light conditions. To ensure that you can take pictures at the right time with the right light in the golden and blue hours, we will be out and about especially at sunrise and sunset. In between, during lunchtime or in the afternoon, you will have time at your own disposal to rest a little, explore the surroundings or, if you wish, take part in image discussions and tutorials. If desired, or if fantastic weather and light moods arise, we can also include another photo session in the afternoon.

Half double room

Single travellers can register for a half double room. If no second guest registers to share the room, the single supplement will apply.

Insurance

We strongly advise you to purchase insurance for cancellation and return journey costs, which will be needed in the event of a secluded region being evacuated, a local hospital stay or return travel costs to your home country.
