  • It was a brilliant photo tour. Smart, unobtrusive and professional service. I was able to share my own personal knowledge of Scotland (native country) with the group which everyone seemed to appreciate. Even though I know Scotland very well, I have seen a number of new things and rediscovered more familiar locations photographically. I can heartily recommend a photography course like this.

  • My first photography tour with Amazing Views guided by Jennifer has totally impressed me. I have felt completely at ease among a wonderful group of people. I was really nervous beforehand about integrating into a tour group. Everything was perfectly organised and it was a completely different experience for me not having to worry about anything when I was on holiday. We were constantly taken from one beautiful place to another and that happened virtually two times a day. I have been able to take home soooo many ‘amazing’ impressions with me. And you have even been able to sort out some grandiose displays of weather ;-)

  • Rarely has a landscape impressed me as much as the one on Skye. The tranquillity and simplicity of the landscape is breathtakingly beautiful. The weather was usually good and so great pictures with beautiful lighting moods were taken. Now I edit the pictures at home in reminisce. Jenny and Nick were great tour guides / photographers and always brought us to the photo spots at the right time of the day (sometimes in the middle of the night). With their patient and humorous nature, they were always here for us with valuable tips. Thanks for the great organization and unforgettable days. Until next time…

Good to know
  • Language: The photo tour guides speak German and English.
  • Weather: It is likely that you will experience four seasons in one day in Scotland. These rapidly changing weather conditions are precisely what makes photographing these landscapes so very exciting. Fantastic lighting effects occur and the resulting shots are instantly much more dramatic.
  • Time of travel May: May is one of the best times to travel to Scotland as it statistically has the least amount of rainfall and the most amount of sunshine next to June. The daytime temperatures are a mild 10 to 14 degrees. In April/May there are also very few flies and midges so you can photograph without being troubled.
  • Time of travel October: Temperatures fluctuate between 10 and 14 degrees in the autumn months of September, October and November. Rain can be expected from time to time in October. The sun also shows its face in Scotland in the autumn. The average hours of sunshine is approx. 2 to 4 hours a day. The weather is changeable and provides wonderful atmospheres for photography. The troublesome flies and midges are also no longer active in the autumn.
  • Fitness level: The tour is not particularly physically demanding. Short walks are required to reach the photo locations. The hiking trails in Scotland (if they exist at all) can sometimes be uneven or boggy as they usually cross moorland and heathland.
  • Order of events for the photo workshop / photo tour: So that you can capture photos at the right time with the right light during the early hours and twilight, we will be out and about for around four hours particularly around the hours of sunrise and sunset. You then have some time available during the morning and afternoon to rest, catch up on sleep, explore the surrounding area or take part in image critiques and tutorials if you so wish.
  • Sunrise / sunset: During the photo tour in May, sunset occurs roughly at 5.00 am and sunset at around 9.45 pm. In October, the sun rises at approximately 7.30 am and the sun sets at around 7.00 pm.
  • Insurance: We strongly advise you to purchase insurance for cancellation and return journey costs, which will be needed in the event of a secluded region being evacuated, a local hospital stay or return travel costs to your home country.
