Frequently Asked Questions

WHO ARE PHOTO TOURS SUITABLE FOR?
Our photo tours are suitable for anyone who loves taking photos, travelling to amazing landscapes and experiencing nature and the animal world! If you occasionally snap a shot with your camera, or even if you are a committed, semi-professional photographer with an SLR camera - We have the right deal for you. Non-photographer partners and friends are more than welcome.
I WOULD PREFER TO TRAVEL INDIVIDUALLY
But of course! Would you prefer to be accompanied by a well-known professional photographer for a few days to get some snaps of untouched nature and wild animals? Are you just really keen on photography and want to travel to destinations with breathtaking sights? Regardless of whether you want to get down to some serious photography or simply wish to get away from it all: we know the locations which are ideal for your needs and will gladly organise the journey of your dreams! The regions we focus on are those for which we have detailed knowledge. We will gladly share our insider tips with you.

Here is where you can find out more about our Private Tours

Please be aware that our group trips always take place in very small groups. Individual care and assistance are our guiding principles.
WHAT DO THE PHOTO TOURS NOT INCLUDE?
Unless otherwise stated, our prices include all accommodation, transfers, meals during the trip, drinks (where available), guidance from a professional photographer and the excursions included in the itinerary.

International flights to the trip destination are generally not included, nor are tips, premium brand alcoholic beverages or optional excursions.

Each trip comes with a detailed description of the activities/services which are included and those which are not.
HOW DO I BOOK MY INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS?
Nowadays, flights can be easily purchased online by anyone. We will gladly offer advice on which connections will get you to your destination at the right time.
WHAT IS THE LANGUAGE USED ON THE TRIPS?
Many of our trips are conducted in English since we mostly work with photographers from the destination regions of the tours. But we frequently escort people on their trips so that there will be English and German spoken. Details can be found in the descriptions for our various trips.
ARE THE TOUR GUIDES PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS?
We select our photographer guides very carefully. They are professional photographers who are not only great at taking pictures but also at passing on their knowledge. We also ensure that they know the trip destination and the photographic subjects like the back of their hand. They generally live in the region in question.

Our photography guides will be there for your every need during the trip. The only time they will be taking pictures is when they are advising you on the right camera settings. Our goal is that you return home with amazing photos.
WHAT CAMERA EQUIPMENT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME?
Generally, any camera with manual settings such as shutter speed, aperture and ISO will be sufficient. To get the best possible results, we recommend you bring other equipment such as a zoom lens (depending on the main focus of the region/trip) for taking pictures of wildlife, and wide angled lenses or POL filters for landscape photography. Each of our trip descriptions contains a list of specific recommendations. We will gladly answer any questions you may have about these.
HOW MUCH PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPERTISE DO I REQUIRE?
Our trips are open to anybody who loves photography. The small group sizes enable us to provide care and support that is tailored to your requirements.

For beginners, certain technical points will be the main focus. You will then be taught how to use the various aperture and shutter speed settings correctly.

If you have already mastered the technical basics, you can focus at the beginning on topics such as image composition, use of filters, or creative techniques such as panning or the ideal use of light.
CAN I BRING MY FRIEND/PARTNER ALONG ON A PHOTO TOUR?
Absolutely! Guests are more than welcome on our photo tours, even if not budding photographers themselves. Even guests who are not interested in photography will get their money’s worth and can enjoy a trip that has been carefully put together with many highlights. Many trips offer the option of taking part in different activities such as spa visits, walking safaris or simply spending a pleasant afternoon by the pool. We will gladly inform you of the various options for each photo tour.
HOW LARGE ARE THE GROUPS?
Where possible, our trips take place in small groups of 4 - 8 people. The exact number of guests is mentioned in the descriptions for each individual trip. The small group sizes ensure that you get individual support and can truly relax (e.g. a ‘window seat’ for everybody in the safari vehicles).
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN THE VEHICLE ON SAFARI?
All our customers will get a ‘window seat’ on trips in South Africa. Between 4 and 6 guests will be in each vehicle, depending on the trip.
WILL YOU EXPLAIN ON PHOTO TOURS HOW TO USE MY NEW CAMERA?
We will gladly help you out. If you have not used your camera yet, or only a little, our photography workshops will be particularly useful to you. Ideally, you will have already had a go at getting used to your camera. The most important thing is that you bring your user manual with you since the functions vary by model and brand.

The basics will remain the same no matter what camera you have (e.g. use of shutter speed and aperture) or the use of creative techniques, interplay between light and shadows, etc..
