What our clients say

I joined for this trip directly after the cats of the Kalahari: the contrasts of both trips (Kalahari: desert steppes in beige versus Mashatu: rich green partly with yellow flower carpet) are fantastic! Very good mentoring by Hannes and Thomas, who can give even experienced photographers a tip or two. Very comfortable lodge with excellent staff, especially the local guides are to be emphasized.

Botswana's Best Kept Secret, February 2020

This was my seventh photo safari, but the first time during the rainy season. Seeing the different animals and birds in a green landscape is a unique experience. Thanks to the excellent guides from the lodge, who made sure that the rainy season had no negative impact on the number and quality of sightings of cats of prey, birds and other animals. The photo tour guidance by Hannes Lochner and Thomas was excellent, as usual for Amazing Views. Many thanks!

Botswana's Best Kept Secret, February 2020

excellent organization everything worked smoothly- breath-taking camp with best food and loving hospitality - perfect driver chosen who took us through thick and thin and to the most beautiful places - an unforgettable journey

Best Kept Secret, February 2020

Since it was my first time on a photo safari, I was overwhelmed by the many impressions of the animals. The rainy season in Botswana was a pleasant travel time and the sight of the flower carpet was unique. The local driver and the guide were very keen to show us as many animals as possible. Thomas and Hannes Lochner always had good advice for taking pictures, thank you very much for the beautiful trip.

Botswana's Best Kept Secret, Februar 2020

I have been to Botswana with Amazing Views before, I was also lucky enough to go on the first trip to Churchill to see the Polar Bear babies. All trips were unforgettable. Now again, to travel to Botswana during the rainy season was awesome for me. To photograph the animals between the lush green and yellow flowers, and to see them rolling around in it was fantastic. Plants, which I had thought to be dead in October, came back to life. Unique and an unforgettable experience. The trip was as usual, very well organized and everything went like clockwork. The lodge was super. Excellent support by Thomas and Hannes Lochner, who explained or showed with a lot of patience again and again the right adjustments and the right perspective. Not to forget the drivers and trackers who tried tirelessly to fulfil our wishes. I am thrilled. Many thanks to all.

Botswana's Best Kept Secret, February 2019

The tours are always super organized by Jennifer and Thomas! I especially liked this tour, because you experience the nature of South Africa and Botswana in its unspoiled form. The animals are not on display, you have to look for them / discover them. But you get to see all the animals, up close and personal. Also, the season with occasional thunderstorms and wildflower carpets has its special charm. Absolutely recommended!

Botswana's Best Kept Secret, February 2019

As a repeat offender, I have already been on the road with Amazing Views several times! As always, the tour was very well organized. Expectations are exceeded again and again. Best guides guarantee for an unforgettable experience! Absolutely recommendable! - A big praise to Thomas and Jennifer! - Keep going!

Namibia, November 2018

A great trip over four outstanding, but also very different stations within the Okavango Delta. Both the driving and the photo guides provided unforgettable moments and helped with words and deeds to "shoot" fantastic photos. My rather high expectations were even exceeded. For a wonderful trip, many thanks to Amazing Views!

"Amazing Views" lives up to its name. We took home unforgettable impressions from a varied, very well organized and exclusive tour to a fantastic wildlife area. Thomas and James led the group in a friendly and professional manner and knew how to respond to each participant individually. We felt very comfortable, even though the hyenas, hippos and elephants regularly visited our camp at night. Predicated as very recommendable ... actually a must

We were back in Botswana after 30 years and felt wonderfully looked after by Thomas and James, and the whole team of Letaka Safaris. We would never have imagined such a great trip. From the competent photo and tour guide of James to the extraordinary beautiful campsites and the interaction with the nice fellow travellers, there was nothing to complain about. We can only recommend everyone to join this trip. To Amazing Views, you are top!

Botswana Wildlife Explorer, October 2018

The Amazing Views have organized an absolutely great trip. Letaka Safaris offered a great organization. The rangers are very good drivers and very successful with their game drives. Their great knowledge in interpreting footprints and the perception and interpretation of animal sounds was terrific, so that we had many impressive moments while discovering this animal world in such a great landscape. With James, the whole thing was topped: an extremely good photographer, with a knowledge he was able to convey very well. I have profited enormously from him. His warm way of leading the group was absolutely terrific. A great trip with unique impressions and pure emotions. Thank you all for this experience, it is unforgettable.

Botswana Wildlife Explorer, October 2018

A very well organized, "little" adventure which - fortunately away from the mass tourism streams - gave me many impressive, some touching and moving, several unique moments in the African wilderness. The photographer, James, not only has an excellent feeling for the motif and the right moment, but also for the different needs and requirements of the individual participants. All in all a successful trip, which not only fully met my expectations but in some aspects even exceeded them.

Day 1 – With a bush plane into the Delta

After making your way to Maun you will be greeted at the international airport after your arrival. Shortly afterwards we will take off on a bush flight in the direction of Khwai River. In this region you will spend the first 3 nights of your photo trip. Early in the morning and late in the afternoon we will set off with a photo guide on the game drive.
We will spend the night in a charming tented camp that has been set up exclusively for our group. Our crew will make sure that you have everything you need.

Day 2 to 3 – Exploration days in Khwai

The Khwai River forms the border between the Moremi Reserve and the community area. We will spend the following two nights at an exclusive camp site in the community area and explore the Khwai floodplains on game drives. You will spend your time on game drives between the dry areas of the leadwood and camel thorn forests, savannahs, riverbanks and swampy waters of the Khwai River. The region is particularly known for regular sightings of leopards and wild dogs. Let yourself be inspired by the abundance and diversity of wildlife.

Day 4 – From Khwai to Savuti

We will continue north to Chobe National Park, where we will spend the next three nights on another exclusive camp site in the wilderness of the Savuti region. The half-day drive to Savuti overlooks en Paleo-Lake Makgadikgadi, which dried up tens of thousands of years ago. The biggest challenge of this tour will be the crossing of the Magwikwe Sand Ridge, which formed the coastline for this once massive inland sea. The winding route through deep sand makes it an interesting journey. The old lake bottom forms the Mababe lowland, whose dense clay soil is very rich in protein, providing a good food source for wildlife, which is abundant in the area after the rainy season. After arriving to Savuti, we will explore the surroundings again with a game drive in the best light.

Day 5 to 6 – Exploration days in Savuti

Unlike large parts of the country, Savuti is not a completely flat landscape. Large hills of volcanic rock rise from the Kalahari sand high above the endless savannah. These hills provide habitats for a very different range of small wildlife, birds and plants. The Savuti marshland is the stage for many of the dramatic nature documentaries in Africa. The vast, open landscape, the abundance of ungulate populations, particularly strong lion prides and hyena clans provide dramatic scenes and excellent observation opportunities. The mostly dry Savuti Channel runs through this area, linking the dry sand fields, waterholes, hills and grasslands that make up the Savuti Marsh.
The interplay of lions and elephants is undoubtedly one of the most interesting aspects of Savuti. The area is inhabited by a large herd of lions, ranging from 20 to 30 members. These exceptional lions have learned over the years how to hunt the massive pachyderms. They start their attack in the darkness and through their large numbers, they succeed in killing young animals as well as younger, adult elephants. The marsh is the main area of the cheetahs and it is not unusual to find wild dogs here.

Day 7 – Onward journey to the Chobe river

After a last activity in the early morning we will fly with our charter airplane to Kasane.
In the afternoon we will make the first boat safari on the Chobe River. We will use a photo boat specially designed for photographers and equipped with fixed tripods and swivel chairs.
The Chobe River offers excellent game viewing during the peak of the dry season. There are only a few water sources left and especially large herds of elephants and buffalos gather to drink on the riverbanks.

Day 8 to 9 – On the Chobe River

You will have two full days to explore the Chobe. Both in the morning and in the late afternoon we will explore the wildlife of the river by photo boat. Photographing from the boat provides excellent perspectives and animals such as buffalos, elephants, antelopes and many more can be taken at eye level or even from a deeper angle. Particularly beautiful pictures can be taken at sunsets and backlight shots with the animals in dust clouds.

Day 10 – End of the photography expedition and journey home

Now it is time to bid farewell. The photo expedition finishes today. Enjoy sleeping little longer – the morning is yours to do with as you please. Later you will be getting on your international flight home or continuing your holiday under your own steam.

comfortable De-Luxe camped tents
You will be sleeping in comfortable tented camps when on safari in the national parks and wildlife reserves. The luxury camps will be set up for us every time we stop for the day. The bathroom has a bush shower, bush toilet and a small sink.
The camp team, which also includes the safari guides, a cook and other employees, will make sure your stay is a pleasant one. The meals will be prepared over an open fire by the camp crew. Enjoy the beautiful lodge – designed by photographers for photographers
In Kasane you will stay in a beautiful lodge with a fantastic view of the Chobe River. The lodge is located close to the entrance of Chobe National Park. This lodge is designed by photographers for photographers! It has only 14 rooms, each with a private balcony and plenty of storage space for luggage and camera equipment. At the heart of the lodge are a pool deck, a dining area and a special room for picture discussions and editing. Beautiful wildlife pictures hang everywhere in the lodge for inspiration. This allows our guests to take an additional 10 kg of luggage in addition to the usual 20 kg. Luggage may only be carried in soft sports bags / duffel bags. Hard-shell suitcases will not be accepted to the aircraft.

The dry season lasts from April to October and is ideal for game viewing. October is the hottest and driest month. Temperatures can reach around 40 degrees.

The journey does not require any special physical requirements.

As you may be aware, your accommodation is often in national parks, which are quite far away from civilisation.

The voltage in Botswana is 220 - 230 volts. You need an appropriate adapter. Please note that the power supply on this photo tour is limited. Camera batteries and other things can be charged on the safari vehicles. In Kasane you have full power in the lodge again.

For trips to Botswana, malaria prophylaxis tablets and the usual vaccinations are highly recommended. Please consult with a doctor specialising in tropical medicine, or your family doctor. You must take important medication with you from your home country, as there is no guarantee that you will receive the desired medication in Botswana. All important medicines should be carried in your hand luggage.
