Photo Tour Slovenia – capture Slovenia at its most colourful

Discover Slovenia’s Julian Alps in the most beautiful season. You can leave it to us to get you to the best locations to capture autumn colours at their finest. The focus of this tour is spectacular landscape scenes as we follow nature’s colours around the unspoilt Alps, valleys, lakes and rivers of Slovenia.

You’ll explore Lake Bled and its iconic church on Bled island, starting with sunrise at the shore and ending with sunset from a stunning vantage point. You’ll also discover the more tranquil but equally inspiring Lake Bohinj in the heart of the Julian Alps. Together we’ll try creative long exposures to capture fast-flowing rivers and waterfalls at Soča river valley. We’ll visit some of Slovenia’s most picturesque villages to shoot hilltop churches, traditional hayracks and document a slower pace of life. You’ll discover the charming capital, Ljubljana, with its contrasting architecture, café culture, bustling riverbank and markets.

The one-week photo tour will be led by the Slovenian Dan Briski. The renowned landscape and outdoor photographer knows the region of the Julian Alps and Lake Bled like no other. Dan worked as a photographer for the Triglav National Park for several years.

We had great experiences with a total of 8 bears over three days - a good yield, considering that the bears do not appear at the push of a button! Thomas was a confident guide and the atmosphere among us participants was good and relaxed. Slovenianbears did a good job of organising the bear afternoons in the Hides. We had to bring the patience ourselves.... I liked the accommodation at Ana's, the food was good and plentiful. I found the excursions in the morning (underground lake, caves etc.) interesting, they gave us a good insight into the region (only the eagle owls didn't want to show up despite digital calls). There is nothing to complain about! - Bear-strong journey with AMAZING VIEWS to the bears in Slovenia!

It was my first tour with Amazing Views (and not my last). As a fan of wildlife photography, I got my money's worth. It was fascinating to observe the wild bears in the wild. Thomas' technical support was a great help for me as a beginner, and the exchange with the other members of the group was also extremely helpful. The organisation worked flawlessly, be it the transport or the accommodation in a smart guesthouse. To liven up the week, we also visited a cave and were able to use our skills there under difficult lighting conditions. Day 1 – Arrival

You travel individually to Ljubljana. There, you are already expected at the airport. We drive directly to Bled, where you will be photographing in the golden light in the late afternoon. In the evening we meet for a welcome dinner in our hotel.

Day 2 and 3 – Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj

You explore the Gorenjska region for two full days and start the first day with a sunrise photo session at Lake Bled. From a viewpoint, take pictures of the magnificent mountain panorama with the lake and the famous gothic church on the small island.
You visit the spectacular Vintgar Gorge. This is the perfect place to experiment with taking pictures of fast-flowing water and making fantastic long exposure pictures. You drive to Lake Bohinj. We take our time to photograph the beautiful scenery and visit some of the idyllic villages in the area.
Due to the small group size, we can optimally respond to your individual needs and discuss photographic topics of your choice and immediately put them into practice.

Day 4 and 5 – Soca Valley and Triglav National Park

After a final morning photo session around Lake Bled and a nutritious breakfast, we head to the next destination of the trip. You drive over the Vrsic Pass, the highest pass in the Julian Alps which offers a spectacular view of the imposing, surrounding mountain panorama.
Continue to the Soca Valley and discover other highlights of the Triglav National Park. Take pictures of the emerald-green waters of the wild Soca, discover fantastic gorges and roaring waterfalls.
The journey also takes you to some of the highest mountains in Slovenia with a breathtaking view from Slovenia all the way to Italy.

Day 6 – Ljubljana

Today you leave the Julian Alps and drive back to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. The city is a real gem. Stroll through the charming streets of the old town and capture the highlights with the camera: baroque churches, architectural details, the impressive Dragon Bridge, the castle and much more.

Day 7 – End of the photo tour

The photo trip ends after breakfast. You will be brought on time to the airport of Ljubljana where you will take your individual home or onward journey.

Bled

Our charming, family owned Bed & Breakfast with cozy rooms is located in the small village Selo. It is located around one kilometer from Lake Bled. All rooms in the new, rural house have their own bathroom, balcony or terrace, TV and WiFi.

Bovec

The hotel in Bovec is located on the edge of the Triglav National Park. The rooms have a balcony, cable TV, a minibar and free Wi-Fi. A spa area with a hot tub and sauna invites you to relax.

Ljubljana

The hotel is located in a historic building in the center of Ljubljana. The elegantly decorated rooms feature free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen cable TV and a private bathroom with slippers and a hairdryer.

Course of action of the photo tour

The exact daily program will be put together on short notice while on location, so that we can take into consideration the current weather and light conditions. In order to capture images at the right time and with the best light during the golden and blue hour, we will be out and about especially during the times of sunrise and sunset. In between, during lunch time and in the afternoon, you will have time at your own disposal. You can relax, explore the area or participate in our photo discussion and tutorials. Upon request or if we have fantastic weather and light conditions, we can also add another photo session in the afternoon.

Climate

The climate in Slovenia in October is similar to the one in Switzerland, Austria and Germany. The Slovenian Alps have a typical alpine / mountain climate. In autumn sun, clouds and rain alternate constantly. Especially in the mountains the weather can change very quickly. The average temperature in October is between 6 and 15°C.

Fitness Level

Fitness level This tour is outdoor oriented and we will spend a lot of time in the nature. It is recommended to be reasonably fit to appreciate everything th region has to offer. There may be a limited amount of uphill walking. The workshop is rated with moderate difficulty.

Clothing

Bring outdoor, weather resistant clothing and shoes. Also warms clothes for cold mornings are recommended.

Double room

Single travellers can book half of a double room. If there is no other guest who wants to share the room, the single room surcharge will apply.

EU citizens need a valid identity card or passport to enter Slovenia. The documents must be valid until the end of the trip.
