This photo tour takes you to the largest island of German, to Rügen. Surrounded by deep blue Baltic Sea, Rügen is considered the jewel of the Baltic coast. The charismatic Baltic Sea Island offers countless places with wonderful landscapes. Here, a unique mix of rugged cliffs, white bathing beaches, apart seaside resorts, deep forests and characteristic fishing villages are waiting to be photographed by you.

You will spend 5 nights in a selected accommodation in Göhren and discover the best photo locations of Rügen from there. In addition to the well-known highlights such as the pier in Sellin, the Colossus of Prora or the chalk cliffs, we will of course also be away from the touristy areas with our cameras.

Autumn is a particularly beautiful time on the island. Peace and originality return after the summer to Rügen and the island shows itself in a red-yellow colour frenzy. Changing light moods and autumn storms can also provide an exciting spectacle on the lonely beaches and coasts.

On this Rügen photo tour we count, as usual, on local know-how. You are on the road with professional landscape photographer Nicolas Alexander Otto. Alex knows Rügen very well and will take you to the best and most beautiful photo spots on the island. He smoothly adjusts guiding by the respective level of knowledge of the participants, and also likes to share his technical tricks in photography. So not only photographing on location, but also pre- and post-processing is an important part of this photo tour.

Experience Rügen in autumn during the off-season and encounter the diverse island far away from the tourist crowds. You can capture the original beauty and unique nature of the island completely relaxed with the camera.
The still warm Baltic Sea gives Rügen a longer autumn with mild sea air. The island shows itself in autumn in a red-yellow colour frenzy. Autumn storms also provide a great spectacle on the lonely beaches and coasts. Changeable weather delivers exciting light moods.
In addition to the well-known Rügen highlights such as the pier in Sellin, the Colossus of Prora or the chalk cliffs, you will also be on the road with your camera away from the touristically developed areas and discover exciting insider photo locations.
On this Rügen photo tour you will be guided by professional landscape photographer Nicolas Alexander Otto. Alex is a multi-award-winning German landscape photographer. He knows Rügen very well and will guide you to the most photogenic spots on the island.
You will also learn how to create checklists for landscape photography and learn to use various tools and aids for location scouting and pre-planning. Filter photography is an important part of this photo tour. Photo editing techniques including image reviews will take part on this tour.
You will stay in a comfortable and stylish hotel in an idyllic location with stunning views of the island and the sea. During your stay you will enjoy excellent and regional food (half board).

Day 1 – Meeting point Berlin airport

We meet at the Berlin airport. We will be happy to advise you the appropriate flight connections well in advance before the tour. Our local photo guide Alex will meet & greet you, and then you will drive comfortably with a van to our accommodation, which is in a prime location in the Baltic Sea resort of Göhren. The hotel is the perfect base for our excursions on the diverse Baltic Sea Island. After an early dinner you will undertake the first photo session.

Tag 2 – 5 - On the road in Rügen

We will head on to the various photo locations of Rügen directly from the hotel. The exact daily program of this tour will be compiled at short notice on site, in order to be able to respond to the respective weather and light conditions. Our photo guide will lead you to the most beautiful photo locations, as he knows the largest island of Germany very well.

Depending on the conditions, we will photograph for 3 to 4 hours in the early morning at sunrise and 3 to 4 hours in the evening at sunset, when the light is at its best.

During our stay, countless well-known and as well extraordinary photo motifs in Rügen are waiting for you. You will visit the famous highlights like the Jasmund National Park with its old beech trees, photograph the famous pier in Sellin and the imposing chalk cliffs. You will be on the way with your camera at the dreamlike natural beach in Drankse, at the flintstone fields, the German Avenue Road, photograph romantic lighthouses, spectacular coasts, and other great highlights.

This workshop is suitable for both beginners and advanced photographers. Our photo guide will adapt at personal photography level of each participant and deal with the basics of nature and landscape photography on this photo tour.

Tag 6 – End of the photo tour

On our last day you will check out after breakfast together. Afterwards you will be transferred to Berlin Airport for your individual journey home or onward.

Accommodation

Surrounded by old trees, our accommodation on Rügen is located directly by the sea. From the hotel you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Baltic Sea. The hotel is stylishly and comfortably furnished. The location of the hotel is perfect for easy access to all our photo locations.

Your room is inviting and comfortably furnished and decorated in natural colours. Each room has a flat screen TV incl. radio, a desk, telephone and WLAN. The spacious bathroom offers a shower cabin or bathtub, cosmetic mirror and hairdryer. From your room you will enjoy a wonderful view of the natural beauty of Rügen.

This photo tour includes half board in the accommodation. The varied and creative menus are preferably prepared from sustainable and regional products.

The hotel has a cozy lounge area. You can sit on a beach chair, on the sun terrace with a view of the Baltic Sea. After our excursions you can enjoy relaxation and recreation with sea views in the spacious wellness and sauna area with swimming pool.

Travel time October/November

This time of year is well suited to discover the beauty of Rügen. On the one hand, the weather is particularly changeable now, which can make for fantastic light moods, and on the other hand, sunrise and sunset take place at very pleasant times. Temperatures during the day are between 5-10 degrees and it can have strong winds.

Clothing

Autumn weather in Rügen is often very changeable and you have to be prepared for all eventualities. We therefore recommend breathable functional clothing in the onion principle, which transports sweat to the outside without losing heat and dries quickly.

Condition

The tour does not have any special physical requirements. We will take short hikes to the photo locations.

Procedure photo workshop/photo tour

To make sure that you can capture images at the right time with the right light in the golden and blue hours, we will be outside for about 4 hours each, especially at sunrise and sunset times.

Sunrise and sunset

During the photo tour, the sun will rise at approximately 07:00 and set at approximately 16:30.

Half of a double room

Solo travellers can register for a half double room. If no second guest registers to share the room, the single supplement will apply.

Entry requirements Germany

Citizens from Switzerland, Germany and Austria need a valid identity card or passport to enter Germany.

Insurance

The conclusion of a cancellation costs insurance as well as a return travel costs insurance, which covers an evacuation, a local hospital stay and the return travel costs to Switzerland in case of emergency, is strongly recommended.
