The classic travel period to discover Botswana and admire and photograph the wildlife is the dry season. However, the true expert of Africa swears by the rainy season. The landscape shimmers green, flowers start to bloom, and many birds sing. Animal sightings are a bit more challenging but with the landscape awakening to life in the background it is all the more beautiful.
The green nature, the wonderful lighting moods with the radiant colors of the green season create a breathtaking scenery for countless photo opportunities. All pictures to be seen here were made during our research trip in February 2018.
On safari during the rainy season
In the rainy season in Botswana violent thunderstorms may fall. In general, it does not rain long. However, you have to expect that a game drive might be cancelled on this trip. In return you will have many great photo opportunities during your stay in the game reserve. During our research trip in February 2018 we had to cancel a game drive after about one hour during our four-day trip because of a thunderstorm. All other activities could take place as planned.

1
Day 1 to 2 – Arrival in South Africa and transfer to Botswana
After your individual travel to Polokwane we meet in the afternoon in the hotel. Hannes Lochner will give you an introduction to various aspects of wildlife photography.
The next day you will be driven in a comfortable minibus to the border of Botswana (journey time approx. 2.5 hours). After crossing the border, the ranger of the lodge is already waiting for us. It is just a short drive to the lodge where you check in. In the late afternoon we set out for the first game drive. With a bit of luck, we will already find the first animals and start taking pictures.

Day 3 to 6 – In the middle of the action
The private reserve in the south of Botswana is very varied in landscape and has a great richness of animals. Since we are in a private area, the vehicles are allowed to drive off-road to offer you the best perspectives for taking pictures. The area is known for regular sightings of leopards, cheetahs and lions.
Your photo guide Hannes Lochner is always available to you for useful tips and tricks. Between game drives, relax in the camp. Depending on your wishes and needs, Hannes offers short tutorials on different areas of photography. Of course, he also discusses with you the already captured photos and helps you to shoot even better pictures during the next game drive.

Day 7 to 8 – Back to civilization
After the morning game drive you will be driven back to Polokwane. From here, after another overnight stay, you will start your journey home or your individual onward journey.

Accommodation
Beautiful lodge in southern Botswana
The lodge has 14 spacious rooms, all with air conditioning and bathroom (with shower and bathtub). In the common area there is a bar, a dining area, a swimming pool and a lounge.
