Explore wild and romantic Ireland with its stunning mountain scenery in Wicklow National Park and the peaceful valleys, steep coast lines with magnificent cliffs, picturesque lakes and forests of Kerry. You will visit the beautiful landscapes during the deer rutting season. On this trip you will therefore have the opportunity to take exciting wildlife shots and incomparable landscape photos with autumn colours.
This Ireland Kerry and Wicklow photo tour focuses on the rugged and lonely parts of southwest County Kerry and the impressive Wicklow County region on the east coast. Epic landscapes with changing weather and light moods await you. The photo motifs that Ireland has to offer, makes the heart of every nature enthusiastic photographer to beat faster.
With this Ireland photo tour, we count on local know-how as with all our trips. Our professional Irish landscape photographer Bernard Geraghty knows the island as his own pockets. He will lead you to the very best and most beautiful photo spots. Also to those which are remote and remained as an insider information.
Nature in Ireland demands flexibility as weather conditions can change rapidly. The program will be constantly adapted to the conditions to get the best out of each day.

It was a great photo tour in a country that is a little overlooked but offers great scenic opportunities. The guides are very knowledgeable and the places we went to are great. As always, everything is perfectly organized so we only have to focus on taking pictures. Highly recommended.
The trip was well organised and in my opinion we were always in the right place at the right time. The photo spots were great! Different options were sometimes offered so that everyone could choose the right one. I personally really appreciated that. Our photo guides Ralf and Bernard did a great job! They were always helpful and friendly and drove us safely to our destination, even on the long days. I learnt a lot again! The accommodation was also very comfortable, nothing to complain about. I loved Ireland and would definitely recommend the trip to others. I will certainly be travelling with Amazing Views again next time!
It was a varied journey that conveyed impressions of Mayo, Achill Island and Connemara. Imposing coastlines, a lighthouse, lonely fishermen's huts, a pier left to decay, (sandy) beaches, a pretty harbour town, stone walls that divide the land and at the same time give a ‘face’ to the lush green meadows with grazing sheep, to name just a few examples. Incidentally, the weather was a sky-blue colour and there was no shortage of rainbows. Bernard, the man on site, made sure that we were in the right place at the right time: Early in the morning by the mirror-smooth lake or at an exciting spot for the sunset, but also in a nice coffee house with really good coffee. Or in a restaurant with fine food. Thanks to Jenny, Bernard and Felix, I'm no longer at war with grey filters and I've acquired a taste for long exposures. I would never have thought. It's wonderful that you can always count on support. Thank you very much for all the suggestions and tips.
My trip to Ireland, Connemara and Mayo, was my second trip with Amazing Views. This trip was accompanied by Jenny (founder and managing director of Amazing Views) and local photographer Bernard Geraghty. The very harmonious collaboration between the two, their intimate knowledge of the landscapes combined with the local weather conditions and the clear and detailed sharing of their expertise are the basis for a very successful trip. The flawless planning of the journey, local transport, the choice of hotels and lunch/dinner/coffee spots provide a great recreational value. This trip is unique due to the combination of great photo locations and the insight into Irish culture. I will be back next year and will bridge the time in between with workshops in Switzerland.
Although I have already travelled to Ireland a few times, the wild west of the Emerald Isle surprised me with more great spots, which were visited at the best time thanks to the very competent tour guides Jenny and Bernard. Nevertheless, the trip is not set up as a hectic journey criss-crossing the county, but also leaves enough time to relax. I also got to know lots of great cafés again :) ...and that's exactly how I imagined my holiday week would be!
Individual travel to Dublin. We meet at the Dublin Airport during the morning. Afterwards we will head southwest to the Dingle peninsula, where you will spend the first two nights.
National Geographic Traveller has chosen Dingle as “the most beautiful place on earth”. Over the next few days, you will explore the photographic highlights of this wild and romantic peninsula. We will put together the exact daily programme of the trip at short notice on site in order to be able to respond to the respective weather and light conditions. You will mainly be out and about during sunrise and sunset.
Thanks to the small group size, we can cater to your individual needs and discuss photographic topics of your choice and put them into practice straight away (e.g. long exposures, use of filters, photography at night, etc.). If required, we will also have time for image discussions or tutorials on image editing.
Dingle inspires with its lush pastures, gentle mountains and a wild Atlantic coast. There are countless fascinating photo motifs. Here you can also follow in the footsteps of “Star Wars”. Many scenes were shot in South West Ireland.
We will be on the move again during sunrise and sunset. If the weather does not play along, this will not prevent us from taking pictures. Especially when the sky is overcast, sea surges, waterfalls and other scenes can be photographed excellently. The result are atmospheric, mystical pictures.
After a last photo session on the Dingle Peninsula, our journey continues to Killarney, where you will stay the next two nights.
The region around the lively town of Killarney is a paradise for photography and nature lovers. Wild and rugged landscapes with magnificent forests, idyllic lakes and rushing waterfalls are waiting for you.
During our stay in Killarney we will visit the national park and an idyllic, very remote valley. You will discover and have a chance to photograph wonderful lake landscapes, thundering waterfalls, mystical landscapes and much more. The dramatic landscapes and an impressive mountain scenery will inspire you.
In addition to landscape photography, we also keep an eye out for deer. With a bit of luck, you can take some great wildlife pictures.
We are heading east again. Wicklow is located on the sheltered east coast of Ireland. It has high mountain ranges, dark mountain lakes, gentle hills and beautiful views as well as fairytale forests.
The Wicklow Mountains National Park offers with its landscape a fantastic beautiful environment with many great possibilities for photo sessions. Wicklow has also been the scene of film shoots. For example, the successful movie “PS I love you” was filmed here.
Today is the end of the Photo Tour Ireland. We will get back to Dublin airport on time to catch our flights back home or to our further destination.
During the photo tour Ireland, we will stay in good hotels, which offer all amenities. Since the weather in Ireland can sometimes be a little unsettled, we have consciously chosen hotels that also ensure a pleasant stay for rainy days.
The idyllic little harbour town of Dingle is located on the peninsula of the same name in the southwest of Ireland. Our beautiful boutique hotel is located in the heart of the town. All rooms offer modern comforts and are equipped with antique furniture, free Wi-Fi, TV and tea and coffee making facilities. A bar and restaurant round off the hotel’s facilities.
Our elegant hotel in Killarney provides an ideal base for exploring the nearby Killarney National Park. You will stay in spacious, individually designed rooms with a marble bathroom, free wireless internet, tea and coffee facilities, flat screen satellite TV and CD player. The hotel has a pool, steam room, sauna and a wellness area for soothing beauty treatments and massages. From the restaurant you can enjoy a beautiful view of the landscape.
Our accommodation is located in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains. It is the perfect base for exploring the rugged beauty of Wicklow, also known as the ‘Garden County of Ireland’. The rooms are comfortably furnished and have en-suite facilities, tea and coffee making facilities, flat screen TV, safe and free Wi-Fi. The restaurant is renowned for its regional dishes using fresh ingredients.
On this trip you will be travelling with like-minded people who love nature and photography and want to deepen their own photography skills.
The Irish weather is always a bit of a surprise. Sun, clouds and rain always alternate. Perfect for photography! The temperatures vary between 7 and 15 °C in Autumn. This season convinces mainly with the beautiful autumn colours, although it might rain a little more than in summer.
The Kerry region is known for its low light pollution. The perfect starting point for photographing the impressive starry sky with the Milky Way in the right weather conditions. With particularly good luck and corresponding aurora activity, the Northern Lights can also be observed in Kerry. Depending on the weather forecast and your wishes, we will also be able to include a night photography session during the photo tour.
You have a good basic level of fitness to be able to take part in short, moderate hikes on the local hiking trails. The hiking trails in Ireland (if they exist at all) can sometimes be a little uneven or boggy, as they usually lead through moorland and heathland or in streams and gorges. Certain places may involve a walking time of around 1 hour each way. The hiking trails are mostly on flat terrain or involve an incline. Some photo locations may be a little exposed. However, if you are afraid of heights, there is always the option of taking photos from a little further back.
The exact daily program will be put together on short notice while on location, so that we can take into consideration the current weather and light conditions. In order to capture images at the right time and with the best light during the golden and blue hour, we will be out and about especially during the times of sunrise and sunset. In between, during noon or in the afternoon, you will have free time to rest a little, explore the surroundings or, if you wish, take part in picture reviews and tutorials. If you wish or if fantastic weather and light moods arise, we can also include another photo session in the afternoon.
Single travellers can book half of a double room. If there is no other guest who wants to share the room, the single room surcharge will apply.
We strongly advise you to purchase insurance for cancellation and return journey costs, which will be needed in the event of a secluded region being evacuated, a local hospital stay or return travel costs to your home country.
