Day 1: Arrival in Val d’Orcia

The meeting point for the tour is either Florence airport or, if you are travelling by yourself, directly at your accommodation.

After your individual arrival at Florence airport, you will be transferred to your accommodation. The journey takes us to the south of Florence and lasts approx. 2 hours. You will arrive at our accommodation in Val d’Orcia in the late afternoon.

After a short introduction, we will set off for our first photo session. A minibus is at our disposal for local transport. You can simply enjoy yourself and do not have to worry about a thing.

Day 2 – 7: Photography in Val d’Orcia

In the Val d’Orcia and its surroundings, you can capture the special light moods in the autumn-coloured landscape. During your stay, excursions to the Crete Senesi, Siena and the impressive mountain villages of Sorano and Pitigliano are also planned.

We set off before sunrise in order to be at the respective location in good time. Most of the photo locations are close to the accommodation and can be reached in a maximum of 30 – 40 minutes by car. After extensive photography, we return to the hotel for breakfast.

After breakfast, you will have some free time to relax or explore the surrounding area.

In the afternoon, we have time for short tutorials on selected topics (e.g. technical basics, composition, long exposure or the workflow for image editing in Lightroom) or image reviews.

Afterwards, we will set off on another photo session. Dinner will take place in accordance with the lighting and weather conditions either before, between or after the photo session.

Day 8: End of the photo workshop

The Tuscany photography workshop ends after breakfast. You drive back to Florence airport or start your individual journey home or onwards directly from your accommodation.

Travel time November

Autumn arrives much later in Tuscany than here in Switzerland. In our experience, the best time for autumn is November. Now the chances of mystical foggy moods are particularly high. The landscape is characterised by golden-brown and green colours. Many fields have been harvested or the farmers are now busy sowing the fields for the winter. The leaves on the trees are turning a golden yellow colour. Depending on the weather conditions in summer, the autumn colours come earlier or later. The days are short and sunrise and sunset take place at pleasant times. There are also fewer tourists travelling at this time of year. All pictures in this tour description were taken in November.

Clothing

Due to the changeable weather, you need to be prepared for all weather conditions in Tuscany in autumn. We therefore recommend breathable functional clothing based on the onion principle, which transports perspiration to the outside without losing heat and dries quickly.

Fitness level

You have a good basic level of fitness to take part in short walks.

Insurance

We strongly advise you to purchase insurance for cancellation and return journey costs, which will be needed in the event of a secluded region being evacuated, a local hospital stay or return travel costs to your home country.

Half double room

Single travellers can book half of a double room. If there is no other guest who wants to share the room, the single room surcharge will apply.
