This unique Zambia photo tour combines two of the most spectacular national parks in Zambia. The pristine South Luangwa National Park enjoys an excellent reputation among wildlife connoisseurs and photography enthusiasts. This tour takes place at the beginning of the dry season. The chances for great wildlife sightings in the Luangwa Valley are great. Among other things, the National Park has a high density of leopards.
You will also travel to the most beautiful part of the Kafue National Park, which is still considered as an insider tip and is a remarkable region for observing wildlife. At this time of year, there is often still water in the wide plains. In addition to classic game drives, you will go on boat excursions through the many natural channels. The area is known for regular lion sightings. In June there is also a great variety of birds on the plains. It is a scene straight out of the Garden of Eden. During our travel season, there is often fog over the plains early in the morning. With a bit of luck, you can capture unique images.
The Zambia photo tour is aimed at enthusiastic wildlife photographers and is also a highlight for guests who have already travelled to other regions of southern Africa.

The photo tour to Zimbabwe is magnificent! Unique experiences with wildlife at close quarters are guaranteed in Hwange and Mana Pools National Park. The accommodation is all in great locations and the service in the lodges/camps is excellent. Thomas and Hannes looked after us very well and also gave us lots of photographic tips so that our photos were real highlights. In the free time between the game drives we were also able to benefit from them when editing our photos. Thank you very much!
The careful selection of locations/lodges and the extremely knowledgeable and professional local guide made the trip through parts of Botswana a real highlight. The photographer James Clifford knows the places and positions where the animals can be put in the right light and imparts a lot of interesting information about the nature and behaviour of the animals in this unique environment. I returned home with many great pictures and numerous unique impressions.
The Zambia trip in June 2023 was marked by many great animal encounters and beautiful scenery. I especially remember a pair of leopards, about one year old, who were playing with each other and I even managed to take a picture of the female sailing over the male. Wonderful! Equally impressive, however, were the beautiful morning scenes. Antelopes and even lions presented themselves in the ground fog at sunrise! Once again, Thomas and Hannes took excellent care of us, and the local guides also did a good job. This makes us want to do more!
The photo tour ‘Botswana up close’ exceeded all my expectations. I was able to experience and photograph countless unforgettable moments. Hannes' professional guidance was brilliant. Everything ‘around’ with a super lodge, extremely good safari guides and the cosy group made this trip the perfect experience. Thank you. Can only recommend this to everyone.
It was my first photo trip to Africa. The diverse - and, thanks to the driving skills of the guides, close-up - encounters in the private game reserve were impressive: leopards, cheetahs, lions, hyenas, jackals, elephants, giraffes, antelopes, zebras, monkeys, bee-eaters, eagles, vultures and much more. We also had an excellent photo guide with us in Hannes Lochner, who was able to share a lot of his experiences with us. That makes you want more!
I was able to travel to the south of Botswana with Amazing Views in October 2021. The game reserve in the Tuli Block surprised us with unique sightings. In addition to lions, elephants and a wild cat with its cub, we were able to enjoy several leopard sightings. Playful in the flowering Raintree, having fun with a feather, sneaking up on a prey - nothing was missing. Not forgetting the exciting ‘sessions’ in the Hide. Thank you Thomas and Hannes, it was a pure pleasure to be able to share these experiences with you.
You will be met at the airport in Lusaka (if you have booked a flight connection specified by us) and then transferred to the hotel.
You will stay at a charming hotel in Lusaka. To recover after the flight, you can enjoy the amenities of the hotel.
In the morning you fly to Mfuwe, the gateway to the South Luangwa National Park. After the one-hour flight, you will be transferred to our first camp. Our first lodge is situated in the middle of the national park on the west bank of the Luangwa River, surrounded by a beautiful ebony grove. This place is known for its always fabulous light conditions under the tall trees.
In the afternoon, you will join the first game drive. With a bit of luck you will experience the first great wildlife encounters.
The South Luangwa National Park is one of the most spectacular parks in Africa. With its diverse landscapes and central location on the Luangwa River, the park is home to a huge wildlife population. Over 200 different mammal species and around 400 bird species live together in this protected area.
The landscape along the river is characterised by magnificent acacia and ebony forests as well as idyllic floodplains and lagoons. The further inland you go, the more Miombo forest dominates, alternating with vast grassy steppes. The national park offers great opportunities for wildlife viewing. Especially in the north, where our camp is situated, the chances of seeing lions and leopards are very good. The beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife make the Luangwa Valley an incomparable destination for your photo safari. June is the beginning of the dry season and temperatures are still pleasant.
We get up early each morning. After coffee or tea and a small breakfast, the morning game drive starts before sunrise. You will explore the northern part of the South Luangwa National Park. Along the river, lagoons or further inland we go in search of special photo opportunities.
After the morning game drive you enjoy a delicious brunch back at camp. There is also plenty of time for a siesta or, if desired, a photo review.
You can also participate in another safari activity over lunch if you so desire. The camp has made a name for itself for its unique photo hides. Depending on the season and the activity of the animals, the hides can be incorporated into the day as a third safari activity.
In the afternoon, we set off again for another game drive. More great sightings await you. After sunset we go in search of nocturnal wildlife before returning to camp in time for dinner.
The day is rounded off with a delicious dinner in the middle of the bush and accompanied by a wonderful soundscape.
Today you fly back to Lusaka and then continue to Kafue National Park. Depending on the time of arrival, we will do our first activity in the afternoon.
Our journey takes us to the most beautiful part of the Kafue National Park. The region is especially known for regular lion sightings and a great variety of antelopes and birds.
Our lodge is surrounded by beautiful, wide plains and natural waterways. Together with the abundance of wildlife, it almost feels like the Garden of Eden. During our travel season, the watercourses in the plains are probably still well filled. The activities take place alternately by boat and/or in an open safari vehicle. This opens up impressive perspectives, especially for photography. With luck you will photograph graceful lechwe antelopes jumping through the water or a pride of lions directly at eye level. Also very often during our travel time, mystical ground fog drifts over the wide plains early in the morning. If we find wildlife in the right place at the right time, you will find unique photo motifs.
You will spend two full days in the region doing game drives and boat excursions. You will also have plenty of time to enjoy the amenities of the beautiful lodge.
Kafue National Park is one of the largest national park in the world, covering an area of 22,400 km2. It is situated about 200 km west of the town of Kafue at an altitude of about 1000 m on the upper reaches of the Kafue River. The northern part of the park with the Busanga Plain is largely untouched. The area is characterised by the Lufupa forest and open, wide grasslands.
Apart from its imposing and varied landscape, the park is particularly famous for its animal population. Lions, leopards, kudus, warthogs, wildebeests, buffaloes, hyenas, jackals and primates live together here. In addition, there are more than 400 different bird species to marvel at. Most of them can be found in the north of the park, where our lodge is also located.
Depending on your departure time, you will go on one last game drive today. Afterwards it is time to say goodbye to paradise. You will fly back to Lusaka and start your individual journey home or onwards
Beautiful, charming boutique hotel with well-tended garden, large lounge and spacious rooms. A perfect feel-good oasis to recover from the long flight journey.
The rooms are uniquely furnished and have a small lounge with desk, comfortable beds, a modern bathroom, WLAN and much more. The hotel has a very good restaurant and is about 20 km from the international airport.
Our first camp is small, exclusive and designed with great attention to detail. The special thing about this camp is the very familiar atmosphere created by the operators and guides. You feel like you are in excellent hands and it is always difficult to say goodbye after a full day of safari.
The camp is located in the middle of the bush, directly on the Luangwa River. It is not uncommon for elephants and other animals to walk through the camp. Afternoon tea is enjoyed on a beautiful deck directly above the river. The exquisite meals are served in an open boma.
Each chalet is built of stone and has a thatched roof. There is a choice of en-suite bathroom with shower and toilet or outdoor bath. There is a solar light and mosquito nets. Each chalet also has its own wooden deck. From the deck chair you overlook the river and its visitors.
Our lodge in Kafue National Park offers an absolute highlight. Our camp is elevated in the middle of the wide plains between shady fig trees and offers a fantastic all-round view. The lodge stands on wooden platforms In the middle of the remote and breathtaking wilderness.
In the main building you will find the dining area with adjoining bar area, a small library, pool, boma and many comfortable seating and lounging areas. From the open lounge area you have a magnificent view of the plains, where antelope often graze peacefully.
The luxury wooden and canvas safari tents with thatched roofs offer spectacular views. Each tent is generously proportioned and offers a sofa, table and private deck. There is no mobile phone reception in the camp.
June is the Zambian winter. Temperatures are very pleasant during the day and usually not too hot. At night it cools down. Temperatures for early morning activities can be very cool. It is advisable to bring appropriate clothing.

The trip does not require any special physical requirements.
We strongly advise you to purchase insurance for cancellation and return journey costs, which will be needed in the event of a secluded region being evacuated, a local hospital stay or return travel costs to your home country.
