This trip is the perfect combination of the highlights of Patagonia and the uniqueness of the Falkland Islands and a dream for nature and wildlife photographers. As usual, we will take you to the best spots in Patagonia and the Falklands with plenty of insider knowledge and provide you with personalised photography support.
The first highlight of this photo tour is puma tracking in Torres del Paine National Park and, with a bit of luck, photographing these fascinating animals. After a stopover in Punta Arenas the journey takes you to the Falkland Islands. You will visit and photograph on three islands in the archipelago: Sea Lion Island, Saunders Island and at Volunteer Point in East Falkland. Around one million penguins live on the Falkland Islands. December and January are the best times to photograph the fluffy penguin chicks of rockhopper, Magellanic, gentoo and king penguins. With more than 220 bird species, the islands are also a paradise for bird photography. The unspoilt landscape of the Falkland Islands is magical and a spectacular backdrop for the unique wildlife. Perfect photo opportunities are guaranteed on this Patagonia and Falkland Islands photo tour.
As on all our photo tours, we are also working with a very good local partner on this trip. The trip is accompanied by a renowned Chilean photographer who has many years of experience with photo trips in Patagonia and the Falkland Islands. You will benefit from the knowledge of the best spots, the weather and the behaviour of the wildlife that only locals can have.
On this trip, we accompany you to the most beautiful photo spots in Patagonia and on the Falkland Islands. You are sure to return home with a portfolio of great photos of the fascinating wildlife and the unique landscape.

You are fit enough to take part in 3 – 4-hour hikes and carry your photographic equipment. We follow the pumas over uneven and hilly terrain.
The exact program will be determined flexibly on site according to the current weather conditions.
We had to wait a long time before we could finally travel to Patagonia. But it was worth it in every respect. What an incredible 10 days we experienced in this unique landscape! Perfectly guided by Thomas Brühlmann, Cristina Harboe and the other local guides, we were able to let off steam photographically. But the highlight was definitely the 3 days of puma tracking. Here we were able to benefit from Rodrigo Moraga's many years of knowledge and photograph the animals at almost arm's length. I would love to go there again right away!

The weather in Patagonia and the Falkland Islands can be very changeable. In order to get the best out of the photo tour, the exact programme is continuously adapted during the trip. In the event of bad weather conditions, it is possible that individual programme items will be changed. Flexibility is a prerequisite for this trip. In rare cases, due to weather conditions, flights within the Falkland Islands and between the Falkland Islands and Punta Arenas may not take place as planned. We therefore recommend booking the arrival and departure for the photo tour with a rebookable ticket or a day in reserve.
Patagonia is located in the southern hemisphere of the earth and therefore has seasons that are the opposite of those in Central Europe. January is the warmest month of the year and the average temperature is 11 degrees. It can get very cold, especially during the off-peak hours and at night. Strong winds can also be expected on a regular basis. The weather in Patagonia is known for its unpredictability and often changes very quickly. The Falkland Islands have changeable and often cold and rainy weather all year round.
Even in the southern midsummer between December and March, the average temperature is 9 degrees. December and January are the best months for wildlife photography, but they are also the wettest months.
This photo trip is outdoor orientated and we will spend a lot of time outdoors in nature. Among other things, we will be out and about, especially at sunrise and sunset. You should be prepared for cold in the off-peak hours and occasionally rain and/or wind. It is therefore important that you dress warmly enough and feel comfortable outdoors even in windy weather.
