For 2026, we have slightly adapted the program of our popular Pantanal photo tour to offer you even more opportunities for great photos.
On this photo tour, you will discover the Pantanal, which is considered the largest inland wetland on earth and has been declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO thanks to its biodiversity. The Pantanal is an ideal place for photographers who want to capture wildlife and nature in one of its most pristine forms. The Pantanal offers a varied landscape: rivers, lakes, swamps, grasslands and forests. The wide open spaces and tropical climate create breathtaking light conditions for great photos. The dense vegetation, the humid climate and the unpredictable behavior of the animals also make every shot an exciting experience.
The Pantanal is home to an impressive variety of species, making it a paradise for wildlife photographers. Over 650 bird species live here, including the toucan and the hyacinth macaw, as well as rare mammals such as the jaguar, the ocelot and the giant otter. Caimans, capybaras and anteaters are also frequently seen. This variety of animals offers countless opportunities to take impressive wildlife photos on this trip. We use small, maneuverable speedboats with enough space for each guest so that we can put you in the best positions for photography.
The second guide on this Pantanal photo tour is a biologist and ambitious photographer. He has extensive experience in the Pantanal and knows the region inside out.
Great photo opportunities in nature await you on this trip and we will also take you to the most beautiful photo locations and unique animal encounters in the Pantanal at the best time.

The expectations of travelling with Amazing Views are high and were fully met.
A fantastic trip with great participants and lots of fun times that we were able to spend together. The many bird and animal sightings in the best light will remain unforgettable. The highlights were the extraordinary number of jaguar sightings in Porto Jofre and the fantastic landscape at sunrise. The first night in Baiazinha, where we all shivered like castle dogs from the cold, was also unforgettable. Many thanks to Thomas, Marcos, the local guide, and the boat drivers who made it all possible.
Our expectations were more than exceeded. On our trip to the beautiful Pantanal to see the breathtaking jaguars, we were well looked after by photo guide Thomas. As less experienced photographers, we were able to benefit enormously. Thomas took the time to explain the correct camera settings to us. And then gave us lots of tips on how to get the most out of the pictures with the right photo editing. This, coupled with the best spots and ideal lighting conditions and a great group, rounded off the experience.
It could not have been better: Super group - incredible jaguar and other animal sightings, competent and cheerful tour guide. A trip that will remain unforgettable.
On the Pantanal trip in July 2023, the biodiversity impressed me the most. The jaguars were great, lying in wait for caimans along the rivers and swimming across the river in front of us. Beautiful animals! But also impressive were the giant otters, which even put a jaguar to flight. We also encountered a swimming tapir. The many bird species - kingfishers, herons, giant storks, hawks, cormorants, etc. - always offered great motifs. - offered great motifs again and again. We were competently accompanied by Thomas and Marcos, who shared a lot of his knowledge about the animals with us. Everything was well organised. A rewarding trip!
You travel individually to Cuiabá, the gateway to the Pantanal. We meet in the late afternoon for an introduction and then dinner together.
We will be happy to provide you with a suitable flight connection for your journey to Brazil in good time.
After breakfast, our journey starts towards the Taiamã Reserve. You drive through an idyllic landscape, which in some places is reminiscent of African savannahs. During the course of the day, you will reach your first destination in the north of the Pantanal. Our accommodation is beautifully situated directly on the Paraguay River.
You will spend two full days in the Paraguay River region near the Taiamã Reserve searching for jaguars, giant river otters and other wildlife. The nature along the river is a paradise, both scenically and from the biodiversity of animals and birds. Here you can enjoy the silence and unique sounds of the Pantanal. You will travel by speedboat. For our group we use small boats with enough space for each guest. This ensures that we are manoeuvrable and can also navigate small canals. You benefit from the best possible conditions for taking pictures.
After breakfast, check out and drive to your next accommodation. The lodge is located approximately halfway along the lifeline of the North Pantanal, the Transpantaneira. On the way, there are already good opportunities to photograph wild animals and birds. In the early afternoon, you go on a boat tour from the lodge to discover the wilderness of the North Pantanal.
At dusk, head to the lodge’s mobile observation tower. With a bit of luck, you can observe and photograph the shy and nocturnal ocelot from here.
After an early photo session with storks and toucans on the lodge’s second observation tower, enjoy breakfast. Afterwards, check out and drive along the Transpantaneira to your next destination. Depending on the wildlife sightings, you will again have the opportunity to take photographs during the drive.
After arriving in Porto Jofre, you will check into the hotel, which is located directly on the Cuiabá River. It is the perfect base from which to reach the Meeting of the Waters State Park, the kingdom of the jaguars, by speedboat. The lodge grounds offer unique opportunities to photograph the birdlife, including toucans and hyacinth macaws.
After arriving in Porto Jofre and checking in to your accommodation, you will set off on your first safari by boat.
You have five full days to search for and photograph jaguars and other wildlife. We will be traveling with very good guides who will take us to the best positions for photography.
From the lodge, we will go on jaguar hunts in the nearby Meeting of the Waters State Park by speedboat in the mornings and afternoons. The park is considered one of the best regions in the world for observing jaguars in the wild. The area encompasses the confluence of three rivers and provides the ideal habitat for a rich diversity of species. As this region is virtually uninhabited and completely isolated, it is the perfect place to go jaguar stalking. The elegant cats often come to the banks of the rivers to drink, hunt or simply to cool off a little.
After breakfast, we will go on a last safari by speedboat. We will then return to our accommodation for lunch.
Afterwards, we check out in Porto Jofre and set off for Cuiabá. Our journey takes us along the Transpantaneira. We have plenty of time to drive along Brazil’s wild highway and make frequent photo stops along the way to capture the beauty of the biodiverse region.
In the evening we reach Cuiabá and check into the hotel. Afterwards dinner together.
In the morning we will drive to Cuiabá airport, from where you can fly back to São Paolo. Afterwards you start your journey home or your individual itinerary.
We use comfortable and functional accommodation on this photo tour. These are ideally located for the respective activities and game drives.

A former farm converted into a small hotel by the local family. The spacious rooms are equipped with camera units, TV and minibar. A pool with sun loungers, a restaurant, a lounge and terraces with comfortable seating and hammocks are available for the rest periods between the excursions.
The accommodation is an ecological and family-run lodge and offers all the comfort you need on the banks of the animal-rich Rio Pixaim to discover the wilderness of the North Pantanal. The accommodation offers 15 guest rooms equipped with 24-hour electricity, air conditioning, ceiling fan, a large work desk, wifi and bathroom. There is a restaurant, bar/lounge, hammocks and a pool. Two specially constructed observation towers are available for wildlife photography on the lodge grounds.

The trip starts in Cuiabá. Due to jet lag, we recommend arriving at least one day earlier. You will receive a recommendation for a suitable flight in good time before the start of the trip.
The Pantanal is located in the southern hemisphere of the earth and therefore has seasons that are the opposite of those in Central Europe. However, as temperatures do not vary too much over the course of the year, the year is usually divided into dry and rainy seasons. The rainiest months are October to April and May to September is the dry season. Due to the tropical climate in the Pantanal, temperatures are hot all year round and the weather can be very humid.
During the dry season, the weather in the Pantanal is very warm but quite dry. The average amount of rainfall during this time is only 0 to 50 mm per month. The daily maximum temperatures average 30 to 32 degrees. In the dry season, however, it can occasionally get a little cooler, especially when a cold front moves north from Antarctica. It can cool down considerably, especially at night. The lowest daytime temperatures average 16 to 21 degrees.
The trip does not require any special physical requirements.
The Pantanal is a malaria-free area. A yellow fever vaccination is strongly recommended. Please seek advice from a tropical doctor, institute or your family doctor.
It is always important to protect yourself adequately against mosquito bites: Long and light-colored clothing and the application of insect repellent are recommended. Most hotel rooms have windows with mosquito nets.
We strongly advise you to purchase insurance for cancellation and return journey costs, which will be needed in the event of a secluded region being evacuated, a local hospital stay or return travel costs to your home country.
The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) regularly publishes information on countries where there are potential security or other risks. The FDFA’s travel advice is based on its own sources of information that are considered to be trustworthy. This travel advice can be found on the FDFA website: www.eda.admin.ch
