Namibia is a barren, rugged country, as if from another world and yet very inviting and easy to travel through. Namibia is a dream country for photographers, a country of contrasts and wonderfully clear colours. It is a country that many people have fallen in love with and return to time and time again. Anyone who enjoys magnificent landscapes, desert and vastness, who is looking for peace and nature, will never let go of Namibia. The unique mix of European culture in the middle of Africa can be felt everywhere in Namibia. The country is definitely an adventure, but you do not have to be an adventurer to experience it.
On this two-week photo tour, we will take you to the best and most photogenic photo spots in Namibia. You will photograph the magnificent and expansive landscapes and capture Namibia’s wildlife on camera. This trip takes place at the end of the rainy season. The air will be clear and there are great opportunities to photograph exceptional light and cloud moods.
We have slightly adapted the itinerary of our popular photo tour to Namibia for 2026 to offer you even more great photo moments in this unique African country. Travel with us to the south of Africa and capture the very photogenic beauty of Namibia with your camera.

March is an excellent time for a photo trip through Namibia. The rainy season comes to an end in March / April. Occasional thunderstorms and rain showers can still occur. However, these do not usually last too long and the sun soon shines again. This time of year is characterized by rainbows, clear skies and rich contrasts, quite different from the dry season when it can often be hazy. Greenery and flowers are everywhere. Namibia is even more colorful now. In our opinion, March and April are the ideal time to travel to Namibia on a photo tour.
Travelling with Amazing Views and their photo guides is perfect. Not only are we at the photo hotspots at the right time, we also get great professional advice and support. And peace and quiet when the rest of the masses of tourists are out and about. The support was unrivalled. We were in very good and experienced hands with both Hannes and Floyd. Hannes was perfect and had a lot of patience with us. He was happy to pass on his knowledge and it went down well with us. He is a very enthusiastic photographer himself and this rubbed off well on the group. The length of the trip was perfect, there were many new impressions and experiences that I still have to digest, so longer would almost be too much of a good thing. I loved the trip, despite the sometimes very early hour.
My expectations for this trip were very high, as I had already travelled to Namibia three times before as a self-driver. In the end, I flew home with many unforgettable impressions and my expectations were exceeded by far! A perfectly organised trip with great accommodation, scenic highlights and a fascinating animal world (whether Little Five or Big Five) - from the first to the last day. There was a lot of input from Hannes on how to take the perfect photo, so that at the end everyone flew home with successful photos in their luggage. This trip definitely makes you want more! A big thank you to Jenny and Thomas for the great organisation and Hannes for the great support on site. It was great fun travelling with you. The next trip is already planned...
After you have made your own way to Windhoek, you will be greeted at the international airport. You will be taken to the Guest House. The first day will be rounded off with a welcome dinner in a nice restaurant in Windhoek.
Today’s destination is a simple camp near Keetmanshoop. From there you have the best opportunity to photograph the prominent quiver trees in the best light and especially at night. During our travel time the conditions for the milky way photography are ideal (weather permitting). There are over 300 specimens on the farm. Look forward to impressive pictures.
Today’s destination is Wolwedans in the Namibrand Nature Reserve. The lodge is situated in a uniquely beautiful landscape. In the late afternoon we go on an excursion and enjoy and photograph the fantastic landscape of the nature reserve.
You spend the whole day photographing the landscapes of the Namibrand Nature Reserve. You will be travelling in the lodge’s open off-road vehicle. Wolwedans is a magical place for all nature and photography lovers. The untouched, picturesque nature appears almost perfect, like in a postcard. You also have a good chance of seeing the typical desert inhabitants such as oryx antelopes, ostriches, wildebeest, zebras and bat-eared foxes.
After breakfast we will take off with our 4×4 truck. You will be driven to Sesriem. There we check in at the only lodge within the Namib Naukluft National Park.
The park is famous for its impressive sand dunes as well as Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei. By choosing this lodge we are not dependent on the park opening hours. This way we can be on site at the best time for taking pictures.
In the late afternoon we will have our first photo session and take pictures of the captivating and well-known landscape with the huge red sand dunes. The dunes tower up to 320 meters high in the oldest desert in the world. The white pans around the Dead Vlei form a sharp contrast to the red sand and the endless blue sky.
We have the whole day to explore the Namib Naukluft Park. The two highlights are Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. Deadvlei will set the pulse of any photographer racing. The scenery is truly breath-taking. You will not be able to get enough of the interplay between the colours of nature with the white clay pan, the black trees, the red dunes, and the blue sky.
We will get you to the right place at the right time. In the afternoon you have a chance to participate in an optional helicopter flight over the sand dunes.
Today we continue to Swakopmund. The small town is located at the South Atlantic.
You have the afternoon and evening at your free disposal. Discover the colonial town with its numerous cafés and stores. Or take another optional flight over the sand dunes or to the Skeleton Coast in the afternoon. This is a unique opportunity to take fantastic pictures of the desert from a bird’s eye view.
The line of dunes along the coast is home to a fascinating variety of small animals that have adapted to the desert. They survive thanks to the fog that regularly rolls in from the cold Atlantic Ocean. We drive with a 4×4 vehicle into the dunes of Swakopmund and search for the small desert inhabitants to take pictures of them from close range.
In the afternoon you will have some free time to enjoy Swakopmund and relax a little.
Today we continue to the next scenic highlight of this trip, to Spitzkoppe.
The Spitzkoppe between Usakos and Swakopmund is also called the “Matterhorn of Namibia”. You can see the island mountain range in the middle of an endless, dry plain, from an exceptionally long distance.
In the late afternoon, we set off on our first photo excursion around the spectacular Spitzkoppe.
You spend the day discovering and photographing the numerous motifs that the region around the photogenic Spitzkoppe has to offer.
Today your journey continues to Okonjima Nature Reserve.
The 22,000-hectare Okonjima Nature Reserve lies at the foot of the Omboroko Mountains, surrounded by acacia thorn fields, in a malaria-free area. The nature reserve is known for its regular sightings of leopards and brown hyenas during safaris. The reserve is therefore one of the best places in the country to see and photograph these normally shy and elusive animals. It is also the headquarters of the AfriCat Foundation, which is highly committed to the protection of wild animals in their natural habitat.
On arrival, you will embark on your first game drive in the nature reserve.
You will undertake various activities in the nature reserve and have a very good chance of taking impressive pictures of cheetahs and leopards, among others. During your stay on Okonjima, you will also visit the AfriCat Foundation.
We drive back to Windhoek, where we take a short city tour. In the evening we end the tour with a cosy dinner.
You will be driven to the airport in time for your journey home or for your individual follow-up program.
You will stay in a small, charming Guest House in a quiet area of Windhoek. The rooms are nicely furnished. The Guest House has a green courtyard with a small pool. The rooms are equipped with air conditioning, safe, TV and wifi.
The accommodation at the quiver trees in Keetmanshoop is a bit more basic. You stay here because of the perfect location. The camp offers by far the best opportunity to photograph the quiver trees in the best light and also at night.
The camp consists of several bungalows and two houses, both fully furnished and with modern air conditioning. In addition, there is an open-air swimming pool surrounded by deck chairs for sunbathing and relaxing. The rooms offer good comfort and comfortable beds.
Our lodge offers pure wilderness and silence. Situated elevated on a dune, the lodge overlooks the vastness of the dreamlike desert. In this wonderful place you can enjoy the rising and setting sun in the most beautiful colours that nature has to offer. The lodge has nine luxurious tented chalets with a wonderful view of the landscape.
You will spend the night within the Namib Naukluft National Park. Our lodge is situated in the middle of the spectacular dune landscape and is built in the style of an African village. From each of the 23 generously designed chalets you enjoy a magnificent view of the red-yellow dune landscape. The chalets are connected to the main building by wooden walkways. Each chalet has its own spacious bathroom with shower and toilet. The rooms also have mosquito nets, solar lamps and fans.
Since our lodge is located within the national park, we can be the first to photograph the magnificent dunes of Sossusvlei in the morning and the last in the evening. The lodge also offers sunset cruises, guided nature drives by day and night, and guided hikes into nearby Sesriem Canyon. In addition, the lodge has a restaurant and bar, as well as a swimming pool to relax in after a busy day.
You will spend the night in a nice, personally managed guesthouse. The guesthouse has spacious rooms and has been beautifully renovated. The center of Swakopmund is within walking distance.
The lodge has 15 spacious and tastefully furnished chalets, all with bathrooms and a covered viewing deck. Windows and bed are equipped with mosquito nets.
The public area consists of dining room, lounge bar and pool. There is a wonderful view of the landscape with granite rocks. All rooms have private bathrooms, flat screen TV, safe, hair dryer, and wireless internet access.
Our camp in the Okonjima Nature Reserve honours the founding family’s heritage as cattle breeders and consists of 24 rooms. The rooms of this accommodation are spacious and built with enough space for privacy. They offer two double beds, seating, a tea and coffee station, a small fridge or minibar and wifi. The bathroom is equipped with two washbasins and a spacious double shower. You can enjoy a great view from the compact veranda with two director’s chairs.
The centrepiece of the comfortable accommodation is the modern barn, which is the hub for social gatherings. Here you will find the restaurant with indoor and outdoor areas, a spacious lounge with various cosy corners, a well-equipped bar, a swimming pool and a shop. The barn offers the perfect view of a natural waterhole and the incredible expanse of the Okonjima Nature Reserve.
The climate in Namibia is pleasant all year round. At the end of the rainy season at the end of March / beginning of April the weather is mostly sunny. However, thunderstorms and rain can still occur. Temperatures usually range between about 15 degrees (at night) and up to 30 degrees during the day.
The trip does not require any special physical requirements.
For travel to certain areas of Namibia, malaria prophylaxis and the usual vaccinations are strongly recommended. Please consult a tropical doctor, institute or your family doctor for advice.
Single travellers can book half of a double room. If there is no other guest who wants to share the room, the single room surcharge will apply.
We strongly advise you to purchase insurance for cancellation and return journey costs, which will be needed in the event of a secluded region being evacuated, a local hospital stay or return travel costs to your home country.
