Day 1: Arrival in Madrid

Individual arrival in Madrid. Then transfer in a comfortable minibus to our accommodation. The journey takes approximately two hours.

After arrival, check-in at the accommodation. In the evening, an introduction to the photo tour with valuable tips for wildlife photography.

Day 2 to 5: Photographing lynx in the hide

For the next four days, with a bit of luck, you will photograph lynx from the hide. After breakfast at the hotel, there is a short transfer to the Iberian lynx reserve. We drive in 4×4 vehicles to one of the hides at the waterhole. The waterholes are beautifully situated in the typical landscape of the region and provide natural backgrounds for the pictures. In addition to lynx, many other animals such as birds, hares and numerous birds also come to the hide.

As the animals are not fed, the lynx come to the waterhole to drink when they are thirsty. It therefore takes a lot of patience, but you have a very good chance of taking beautiful and natural photos.

Around midday, you take a break for lunch and perhaps a short siesta at the hotel.

There will be another hide session later in the afternoon. You will then be driven back to the city for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: End of the photo tour

The photo tour Lynx Spain ends today. After breakfast and checking out of the hotel, you will be driven back to Madrid airport, where you will start your individual journey home or onwards.

Photographing in the hide

As the lynx are not fed and only come to the waterhole when they are thirsty, patience and tranquillity are the best prerequisites for this unique photographic journey. They are wild and unpredictable animals that are nowhere to be seen on some days and offer an unforgettable experience on others.

Travel time

Summer is the best season for photographing lynx cubs at the waterholes. July is one of the hottest and driest months in Spain. It is not unusual for temperatures to exceed 30 degrees during the day. In the interior and south, night-time temperatures can also exceed 20 degrees. With these hot temperatures, it is necessary to use the early and late hours of the day to photograph the lynx.

Participants

On this trip you will be traveling with like-minded people who love nature, wildlife and photography and want to deepen their own photography skills.

Fitness level

The trip does not require any special physical requirements.

Clothing

This photo tour Lynx Spain is outdoor oriented and we will spend a lot of time in the hide. We recommend comfortable outdoor clothing in layers.

Half double room

Single travellers can book half of a double room. If there is no other guest who wants to share the room, the single room surcharge will apply.

Insurance

We strongly advise you to purchase insurance for cancellation and return journey costs, which will be needed in the event of a secluded region being evacuated, a local hospital stay or return travel costs to your home country.
