On this Kenya photo tour, we take you to two of the East African country’s major highlights. In an exclusive small group of just 5 people, you will photograph the natural beauty of Kenya in the Masai Mara and take photos from spectacular perspectives in the Great Rift Valley. You will photograph from safari vehicles, from hides and from a helicopter. The trip offers the best for the ambitious nature photographer.
In the Great Rift Valley, we take you to a little piece of paradise away from the crowds of tourists. Here you will photograph the unique landscape from a spectacular hide and from a helicopter for a total of 2 hours. Lake Natron and Lake Magadi are a feast for the eyes from the air. You photograph abstract patterns and shapes amidst thousands of flamingos.
The Masai Mara National Reserve borders the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and is considered one of the best destinations in the world for game viewing. The reserve is known for its uniquely high density of big cats. The number of safari vehicles and lodges in our camp’s private concession area is very limited.
This intensive photo trip to Kenya definitely offers you the perfect conditions to return home with a breathtaking portfolio of spectacular images.

The photo tour to Zimbabwe is magnificent! Unique experiences with wildlife at close quarters are guaranteed in Hwange and Mana Pools National Park. The accommodation is all in great locations and the service in the lodges/camps is excellent. Thomas and Hannes looked after us very well and also gave us lots of photographic tips so that our photos were real highlights. In the free time between the game drives we were also able to benefit from them when editing our photos. Thank you very much!
The careful selection of locations/lodges and the extremely knowledgeable and professional local guide made the trip through parts of Botswana a real highlight. The photographer James Clifford knows the places and positions where the animals can be put in the right light and imparts a lot of interesting information about the nature and behaviour of the animals in this unique environment. I returned home with many great pictures and numerous unique impressions.
The Zambia trip in June 2023 was marked by many great animal encounters and beautiful scenery. I especially remember a pair of leopards, about one year old, who were playing with each other and I even managed to take a picture of the female sailing over the male. Wonderful! Equally impressive, however, were the beautiful morning scenes. Antelopes and even lions presented themselves in the ground fog at sunrise! Once again, Thomas and Hannes took excellent care of us, and the local guides also did a good job. This makes us want to do more!
The photo tour ‘Botswana up close’ exceeded all my expectations. I was able to experience and photograph countless unforgettable moments. Hannes' professional guidance was brilliant. Everything ‘around’ with a super lodge, extremely good safari guides and the cosy group made this trip the perfect experience. Thank you. Can only recommend this to everyone.
It was my first photo trip to Africa. The diverse - and, thanks to the driving skills of the guides, close-up - encounters in the private game reserve were impressive: leopards, cheetahs, lions, hyenas, jackals, elephants, giraffes, antelopes, zebras, monkeys, bee-eaters, eagles, vultures and much more. We also had an excellent photo guide with us in Hannes Lochner, who was able to share a lot of his experiences with us. That makes you want more!
I was able to travel to the south of Botswana with Amazing Views in October 2021. The game reserve in the Tuli Block surprised us with unique sightings. In addition to lions, elephants and a wild cat with its cub, we were able to enjoy several leopard sightings. Playful in the flowering Raintree, having fun with a feather, sneaking up on a prey - nothing was missing. Not forgetting the exciting ‘sessions’ in the Hide. Thank you Thomas and Hannes, it was a pure pleasure to be able to share these experiences with you.
A great trip to my absolute dream area in southern Africa. Nice people, relaxed atmosphere and wonderful and exciting animal sightings. Walking safaris with safe guides and unimagined photographic opportunities. I will never forget spending an afternoon up close to dozens of elephants at the waterhole. Hannes and Thomas are always on hand to help with camera settings and are also happy to discuss problems in camp. Three different destinations, very different but always with infinitely friendly staff who were happy to fulfil our wishes.
Karibu Kenya! After landing at Jomo Kenya International Airport, you will be picked up if you have booked a flight connection recommended by us. Transfer to the hotel in Nairobi and check-in. Get to know the tour group and have dinner together.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport. From here you will take a domestic flight to the Great Rift Valley. After landing, you will be transferred to the camp, where you will move into your villa with its own small pool.
The big highlight of the camp is the hide, which brings you face to face with the animals. The hide is a sunken, air-conditioned room with soundproofing and professional lighting, where overnight stays are also possible. It is set into the ground at the edge of the waterhole in order that you are at eye level with the wild animals, which are completely unaware of your presence. From this perspective, great and unique photos are possible. The hide is comfortably furnished and also has four beds.
In the morning, you will have time to recover from the long night sessions in the hide. During the two days, you will also take photos from the helicopter for a total of 2 hours. Lake Natron and Lake Magadi are a feast for the eyes from the air. You photograph abstract patterns and shapes amidst thousands of flamingos.
After dinner, you will return to the hide, where you will hopefully be able to take spectacular pictures during the night.
This morning you fly to the Masai Mara. After landing, you drive to our camp and move into your luxurious tented room.
The camp is located in the Mara North Conservancy. During the afternoon, you will go on your first game drive. Mara North is a private conservancy. The number of vehicles in the area is limited and the safari experience is much quieter and less hectic than in the nearby Masai Mara Game Reserve.
We get up early and after a coffee or tea, the morning game drive starts. The region offers excellent opportunities to spot and photograph lions, cheetahs, hyenas, elephants, giraffes and many other mammals.
After the morning game drive and lunch, there is plenty of time for a siesta. An individual photo briefing with James is possible on request.
In the late afternoon, we then go on a second game drive. More unforgettable animal experiences await you in the Masai Mara.
This trip generally takes place during the Big Migration. However, the focus of the days in the Masai Mara is on the fantastic abundance of game in the Mara North Concervancy. If there is a good chance of spotting the thousands of wildebeest and zebra at a river crossing, the group can take a day trip to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The decision will be made by James Gifford in consultation with the group. The entrance fees to the Game Reserve are not included in the tour price and must be paid locally.
This morning you check out of the camp. You will then be transferred to the airport and take the domestic flight from Mara North Airstrip back to Nairobi.
After the transfer to the international airport, your photo tour ends and you start your individual journey home or onwards.
This cosy mid-range hotel has classically furnished rooms that are air-conditioned and equipped with a flat-screen satellite TV. Tea and coffee making facilities are also provided in the room. The private bathroom has a shower. Bathrobes, slippers and toiletries are provided. The highlight of the hotel is the fantastic garden with pool. It is a small green oasis in the centre of the vibrant African metropolis.
The small camp is booked exclusively by our group. Each villa is a separate, detached building with an uninterrupted view of the wilderness. Each villa is luxuriously appointed and has its own plunge pool, power shower and some even have a luxurious bath. There is no fence around the accommodation and you have the best view of a well-frequented waterhole.
The lodge is a classic tented camp surrounded by magnificent acacia trees in the Mara North Conservancy. All tents overlook a river and offer an intimate and relaxing atmosphere. The camp’s lounge offers breathtaking views over the valley and has cosy seating and a library. Meals are enjoyed in the idyllic garden.
Each tent is extremely comfortable and stylishly furnished and protected by mosquito nets. The bathroom has a flush toilet and a hot shower. Guests can make themselves comfortable on their own veranda in arm and deck chairs and enjoy the magnificent views of the natural surroundings.
Kenya can be travelled to all year round. From December to the beginning of March and from the beginning of June to the end of October, Kenya has a dry season. In September, the climate is pleasant with minimum temperatures around 10 – 15 degrees and maximum temperatures around 20 – 25 degrees. However, it can get very cool at night or early in the morning or evening on the game drive. We strongly recommend that you also pack a warm jacket / fleece for the game drives.
On domestic flights, you benefit from an increased baggage limit of approx. 30kg. You can take your photographic equipment with you without having to worry about the usual 15kg limit per person for checked and hand baggage.
The trip does not require any special physical requirements.
Please seek advice from a tropical doctor, institute or your family doctor. They will provide you with the necessary advice and medication.
We strongly advise you to purchase insurance for cancellation and return journey costs, which will be needed in the event of a secluded region being evacuated, a local hospital stay or return travel costs to your home country.
