Iceland is the land of fire and ice. There is hardly any other place where you feel as close to the origins of life as on this island in the North Atlantic. Iceland is so large and diverse that you need time – especially as a photographer – to marvel at and photograph the impressive landscapes and geothermal activities.
On this photo tour, we go into detail and limit ourselves to selected regions in order to have more time for the unique beauty of the island. On this tour through the west of Iceland, we experience the “wild” Westfjords in addition to the striking Snaefellsness peninsula. We cross the Breidafjord by boat and stop on the small island of Flatey. One of the highlights is the imposing Latrabjarg bird cliff, where you can see the colourful puffins “eye to eye” and marvel at the flying skills of various bird species. Other stops include the “capital” of the northwest, Isafjördur, and the remote fishing village of Djupavik, where you can feel the silence and solitude “at the end of the world”.
We then cross the highlands with an overnight stay on the “roof” of the island and visit the “Golden Circle” with its spectacular geysers and the mighty Gullfoss waterfall. The journey concludes with a visit to the historic Pingvelir, where the representatives of all parts of the country once met for assemblies and court sessions. The continental drift, which separates the European and American plates by a few centimetres more each year, can also be seen here in a mighty rift.
This photo tour Iceland West and Westfjords gives you an intensive insight into the beauty of western Iceland. The variety of photo motifs in this region is particularly high.

Do you want to experience a great trip where you can fully concentrate on taking photos and experiencing wonderful moments? Then Amazing Views is the right place for you. Everything was perfectly organised on our Lofoten trip. Jenny and Cody looked after us wonderfully throughout the whole trip. Thanks to them both, we got the best out of the most varied weather conditions. As a great bonus, I was able to meet some wonderful new colleagues during the week. To summarise: we had a wonderful time with lots of unique pictures....you guys are amazing.
Those who are not afraid of windy, damp and cool weather will be rewarded with the most spectacular, wild and lonely coastal landscapes in Europe on the Faroe Islands. Bernard, the professional photographer and guide from Ireland who knows the Faroe Islands inside out, and Jenny Brühlmann from Amazing Views are the best guarantee that every participant will take home the maximum number of experiences and great pictures. The fact that fun is not neglected is the icing on the cake.
Thanks to Jenny and Cody, despite the bad weather we were always in a place where the sun provided a great lighting mood for a short time. Jenny and Cody are a well-rehearsed team who took care of everything for us so that we could concentrate on taking pictures. The tips and tricks on image composition and editing were also very valuable. I can highly recommend the photo trip to the Lofoten Islands with Amazing Views. I'm looking forward to the next photo trip with you.
The name ‘Amazing Views’ was the programme and true in every respect. From the announcement and organisation of the trip, to the choice of accommodation, the tour guide and the choice of locations, everything was perfect. Of course, the weather and the chosen time of the trip in autumn played a major role. And they went perfectly with the impeccably organised photo tour. The size of the group was very pleasant and allowed everyone to be looked after according to their individual needs. The tour participants' suggestions and wishes were also taken into account. I can recommend a photo tour with Amazing Views to the island of Senja in autumn in every respect, although basic photographic knowledge and a good level of physical fitness are an advantage.
What a fantastic trip. The Faroe Islands offer incredible photo opportunities: jagged cliffs, waterfalls, blue fjords, wild and rugged coastlines and ever-changing weather and light moods. Together with the perfect organisation by Amazing Views and the friendly tour guide Jenny and Bernard, it was an unforgettable week. I would book again in a heartbeat.
‘Unknown Norway’, this year for the first time as a photo tour in the Amazing Views programme, was very well organised and smoothly executed. The travel programme sent in advance with lots of information and detailed recommendations for packing lists and photographic equipment aroused my curiosity and expectations. In short, it was perfect: the planning and the photographic and travel support were highly professional and hitch-free. The group worked extremely well as a team and I enjoyed a great week with them. My special thanks go to Cody who generously looked after us all week, acted as a safe driver and took us to all the wonderful places I had never been before. It was my 4th photo trip with Amazing Views and once again my expectations were exceeded.
Thanks to the perfect photo guide with great knowledge of the location and weather, we were always in the right place at the right time and used the changing weather to our advantage. Epic locations and capricious weather made for great pictures and great experiences with thrills. The professional support and the ideal group size rounded off the harmonious overall package.
The photo tour "Unknown Norway" has an incredible number of photo highlights to offer. It was extremely varied and had many different subjects to offer. Thanks to the midnight sun, we were out and about a lot and were able to capture fantastic light moods with our cameras. The trip is not in the usual tourist areas of Norway and that makes it particularly attractive from my point of view. Once again, everything was superbly organized, as I am used to from my last trip with Amazing Views. Everything went very smoothly. I'm already looking forward to my next photo trip.
Flight from the booked airport to Keflavik and transfer to the hotel in the heart of Reykjavik.
The modern capital of Iceland with its lively city centre offers small, colourful houses in the old part as well as modern attractions such as the new Harpa concert hall. The city’s landmarks, such as the Perlan restaurant built on huge water tanks, the Hallgrimskirche church visible from afar and the skeleton of a Viking boat right on the harbour promenade, can easily be visited on foot during the long days.
The journey starts in a westerly direction. We travel through the lovely Borgarfjord to the Snaefellsnes peninsula, which is also known as “Iceland in miniature” due to its diverse landscape. The charming fishing villages and wide sandy beaches invite you to linger. The mighty Snaefells glacier towers above the island. Snaefellsjökull in particular is the focal point, which was the starting point for Jules Verne’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth”.
Kirkjufell, Kirkjufellsfoss, Budir Church, Arnarstapi, Gattklettur and Longdrangar are just some of the many attractions on the peninsula.
Off the north side of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula stretches the Breidafjord with an endless number of islands and an incredible variety of birds. We take the boat to the small island of Flatey. From here, we take the ferry through the wide archipelago of the Breidafjord to the lonely Westfjords, which impress with their tranquillity, solitude and incredible birdlife.
In the far west of the fjords lie the steep bird cliffs of Latrabjarg, one of the most important bird breeding grounds in the world.
The journey continues into the lonely Westfjords to the Dynjandi waterfall, which cascades down into the depths. A visit to the old Hrafnseyri farm is also planned, as are excursions around the largest town in the Westfjords, Isafjördur.
The route leads through the magnificent fjord landscape, over lonely plateaus and mountain passes to the remote Strandir area in the eastern part of the Westfjords. This deserted area is the perfect place to find peace and quiet, photograph beautiful landscapes and discover enchanted farmsteads.
Djupavik, with its herring factory ruins that have been abandoned for decades, lies at the end of a deep fjord. We continue to the end of the road and enjoy the unique, barren landscape.
Before continuing our journey, we have the option of visiting the offshore bird island of Grimsey. Thousands of puffins breed here in summer.
We leave the lonely Westfjords and drive to the northwest of Iceland. We cross one of the loneliest areas of the island. Passing small farms and along the deep fjords, we reach our destination for the day at Hvammstangi.
On the way, there is the opportunity to photograph Arctic foxes at the conservation station and free-living seals.
A tour around the Vatnsnes peninsula with seal banks and the bizarre basalt rock Hvitserkur is on the program. We try to capture the summery light moods at sunset and sunrise.
As we drive along the desert-like Kjölur highland road, we have a good view of the Langjökull and Hofsjökull glaciers. In the highlands there, we have the opportunity to bathe in the natural hot spring of Hveravellir or go on a short hike in this nature reserve. The Kerlingarfjöll are a volcanic mountain range in Iceland and reach a height of 1,477 m with the Snækollur. They are located in the Icelandic highlands approx. 25 east of the Kjölur route. We reach our accommodation in Selfoss in the evening.
*The trip through the highlands is always decided shortly before the day of travel. This depends on road closures, road conditions and weather conditions.
We visit the Gullfoss waterfall, whose water cascades over two cascades into a deep canyon. After visiting it, we arrive in the Haukadalur valley, the large thermal area where the large geyser and its smaller, very active brother Strokkur are located.
We visit the historic site of Pingvellir and return to Reykjavik later in the day. At the end of the trip, we can once again enjoy the special atmosphere of the Icelandic capital.
The photo tour ends today. A transfer takes us to Keflavik Airport, from where we start our journey home.
During the photo tour Iceland West and Westfjords, you will stay in hotels, guesthouses and BBs that are ideally located close to the photo spots.

The trip does not require any special physical requirements. However, you should be fit enough to take part in short, moderate hikes and be sure-footed. Depending on the weather, we will undertake short, easy hikes of up to one hour.
Due to the changeable weather in Iceland, you need to be prepared for all weather conditions. We therefore recommend breathable functional clothing based on the layer principle, which transports sweat to the outside without losing heat and dries quickly.
