You have a good basic level of fitness to be able to take part in moderate hikes on the local hiking trails. Some of the beaches are a little uneven with rocks and stones. Certain places may involve a walking time of 1 – 2 hours per trail.
The hiking trails are mostly on flat terrain or involve an incline. There are hiking trails that lead along steep coasts and slopes and offer breathtaking views. Certain sections or individual photo locations can be somewhat exposed. A certain head for heights will help. However, if you are afraid of heights, there is always the option of taking photos from an alternative viewpoint. Our photo guide will help you to find a safe location.
Some walking routes in the Faroe Islands have introduced access restrictions and require payment to enter the area. All fees are included in the tour price. There are no additional costs for you.
What a fantastic trip. The Faroe Islands offer incredible photo opportunities: jagged cliffs, waterfalls, blue fjords, wild and rugged coastlines and ever-changing weather and light moods. Together with the perfect organisation by Amazing Views and the friendly tour guide Jenny and Bernard, it was an unforgettable week. I would book again in a heartbeat.
Those who are not afraid of windy, damp and cool weather will be rewarded with the most spectacular, wild and lonely coastal landscapes in Europe on the Faroe Islands. Bernard, the professional photographer and guide from Ireland who knows the Faroe Islands inside out, and Jenny Brühlmann from Amazing Views are the best guarantee that every participant will take home the maximum number of experiences and great pictures. The fact that fun is not neglected is the icing on the cake.
You travel individually to the Faroe Islands, where we meet at Vágar Airport in the late afternoon (depending on flight times). You will then check in at the hotel and receive an introduction to the week ahead.
Depending on the arrival times of the flights, we will already be able to photograph outside today.
We will depart daily from our hotel to the different photo locations on the islands. The Faroe Islands are a dream for anyone who likes to photograph landscapes. There are countless photo motifs.
Look forward to, among other things, an unforgettable hike to the largest lake in the Faroes, where a waterfall pours over 35 metres down into the open Atlantic. Or photograph picturesque fjords surrounded by high mountains, hobbit-like cottages overgrown with lawns, rugged cliffs rising steeply from the sea and much more. The vast nature of the Faroe Islands will inspire you.
We will arrange the exact daily programme on site at short notice in order to be able to respond to the respective weather and light conditions. You will mainly be out and about at sunrise and sunset or, if the sky is overcast, you will also be able to capture impressive seascape shots during the day. Our photo guide will lead you to the most beautiful photo locations. Bernard travels to the Faroe Islands several times a year and knows the islands extremely well.
Due to the small group size, we can optimally respond to your individual needs and discuss photographic topics of your choice and immediately put them into practice (e.g. long exposures, use of filters, etc.). We will also have time for image discussions or tutorials on image processing.
Depending on departure times from the airport and the weather, we have the opportunity to go out again today for sunrise. The Faroe Islands photo tour ends after breakfast. From Vágar airport you start your individual journey home or onwards.
Our hotel is located near the village of Sørvágur. The hotel has recently been completely renovated and has contemporary and trendy furnishings. The modern rooms offer free wifi, TV, desk and coffee and tea making facilities. The hotel has a restaurant serving a delicious breakfast and other meals.
Due to its central location on the Faroe Islands, the hotel is an ideal base for our daily photography excursions.
Thanks to the Gulf Stream, there are no extreme differences in climate between the seasons on the Faroe Islands. The climate is characterised by mild temperatures. In spring, the average temperature is about 5 °C. The weather on the Faroe Islands is always good for a surprise. Sun, clouds and rain always alternate. In particular, you have to expect a lot of wind all year round. Perfect for photography for beautiful light moods and lots of movement in the sea. Due to the often very strong weather changes, it is not surprising that the weather has a great influence on daily life on the Faroe Islands. The locals often answer questions like whether there is a ferry, a helicopter or an excursion with “kanska” (maybe). So you should definitely bring a certain flexibility with you when you travel to the Faroe Islands.
Due to the frequent weather changes, you definitely need to be prepared for all eventualities. We therefore recommend breathable functional clothing using the onion principle, which transports perspiration to the outside without losing heat and dries quickly.
Well-worn, waterproof walking shoes with appropriate tread soles are essential for the Faroes. The meadows can often be damp and swampy in places. You should always have a rain jacket and rain trousers in your rucksack so that you can react quickly in the event of a change of weather.
We also recommend bringing waterproof boots if possible. This can help capture impressive shots on beaches, for example.

We will put together the exact daily programme on site at short notice in order to be able to respond to the respective weather and light conditions. To ensure that you capture images at the right time with the right light for the respective location, we will be outdoors especially at sunrise and sunset times. If the sky is overcast, we will also drive to suitable locations during the day. In between, you will also have time (as desired) to participate in image discussions and tutorials or to rest during a short break.
During the photography tour, the sun will rise at approximately 6:15am and set at approximately 8:30pm.
Single travellers can book half of a double room. If there is no other guest who wants to share the room, the single room surcharge will apply.
We strongly advise you to purchase insurance for cancellation and return journey costs, which will be needed in the event of a secluded region being evacuated, a local hospital stay or return travel costs to your home country.
