Patagonia enchants with wild and fantastic landscapes and is also famous for its population of pumas. This extraordinary Patagonia photo tour takes you to selected highlights in the Argentinean and Chilean part of Patagonia. Massive glaciers, idyllic lakes, rugged mountain peaks and the endless expanses of the pampas contribute to the diversity of photo motifs in southern Chile and Argentina.
You will visit El Calafate and the powerful Perito Moreno Glacier, take pictures in the region of El Chaltén and visit the impressive Torres del Paine National Park with your camera. Besides photographing the landscapes, you will go puma tracking next to the Torres del Paine National Park. With a bit of luck, you will also photograph an Andean condor in flight on this trip. Great wildlife pictures require time, which we will take on this tour. In each location we stay for several nights.
As on all our photo tours, also in Patagonia we work together with an exceptionally good local partner. This Patagonia photo tour is accompanied by a renowned Chilean photographer with a long experience in photo travel in the region. She has previously worked as a guide in the Torres del Paine National Park and as a puma tracker. Benefit from the knowledge about the best spots, the weather and the behaviour of the pumas that only locals can have.
On this tour we will take you to the most beautiful photo spots in Patagonia in order that you can take great photos of the unique landscape and wildlife.

We had to wait a long time before we could finally travel to Patagonia. But it was worth it in every respect. What an incredible 10 days we experienced in this unique landscape! Perfectly guided by Thomas Brühlmann, Cristina Harboe and the other local guides, we were able to let off steam photographically. But the highlight was definitely the 3 days of puma tracking. Here we were able to benefit from Rodrigo Moraga's many years of knowledge and photograph the animals at almost arm's length. I would love to go there again right away!
You travel individually to El Calafate and are expected at the airport in El Calafate. Check-in at the hotel and a cosy arrival in Argentina.
In the late afternoon, you will meet your fellow travellers and there will be a short introduction to the photo tour. The first day ends with a dinner together in El Calafate.
After an early breakfast, you check out and we will drive with a van to the Perito Moreno Glacier. You take photos of the mighty glacier and go on a boat trip close to the edge of the impressive glacier.
The Perito Moreno Glacier in Los Glaciares National Park is the only glacier that is not retreating at the moment. The impressive glacier tongue is about 60 meters high and more than 4 kilometres wide. Regularly, sometimes every hour, huge boulders of glacier come off the edge and crash thunderously into the water. An unparalleled spectacle that you capture with your camera.
From El Calafate, the journey continues to El Chaltén. You finish this impressive day with dinner.
You spend two full days in the surroundings of El Chaltén in Los Glaciares National Park. Among other things, you will photograph the breathtaking Cerro Torre and Cerro Fitz Roy mountain massifs.
In addition to the imposing mountains, there is a lot to discover in the surrounding area. Among other things, we will photograph rushing waterfalls, idyllic valleys and the windswept and vast steppe landscape of Patagonia.
Depending on the weather conditions, we will go on hikes to reach the most beautiful photo spots.
After breakfast, we will leave El Chaltén and make our way to Torres del Paine National Park. You drive through the typical pampas landscape of Patagonia and cross the border into Chile.
We reach the Torres del Paine National Park in the evening.
During the next three days we explore different areas of the Torres del Paine National Park. You will be taken to the right places and fantastic viewpoints in order to take great pictures.
You will benefit from the local know-how of our guides. They know every secret of the park and will lead you to the best highlights and insider photo spots in Torres del Paine. You will receive valuable information about the flora and fauna of Patagonia and will be supported in taking photographs.
The Torres del Paine National Park is located at the far end of the Andes mountain range. With its impressive glaciers, turquoise and blue shimmering lakes, bizarre mountain formations and the typical steppe landscape of Patagonia, it is one of the most magnificent and wildest landscapes in the world. This rugged beauty of the national park enchants its visitors.
This morning you will have another opportunity to take photos of the marvellous landscape and wildlife in Torres del Paine National Park. Afterwards, the journey continues and you drive to our next destination.
After check-in, you will get to know your Puma Tracker over dinner. Later, there will be an introduction to puma tracking and dinner together.
We will spend the next few days searching, observing, and photographing pumas. This region is considered one of the best places to see pumas in the wildness. The density of pumas is especially high here, not least because of the high and healthy population of guanacos.
Our local tracker will set off before us and then take us to the right places. Smaller hikes of up to about 2 – 5 km may be necessary. We enjoy a picnic lunch at midday. After numerous great photo experiences with the pumas, you will return to the hotel in the evening.
After breakfast, check out of the hotel. You will then be transferred to an estancia. The route takes you along a wonderful road. On the way, you make stops for photos.
In the afternoon, you will arrive at the estancia, which is home to the mighty Andean condors. With a bit of luck, you will be able to take some great photos of the flying birds of prey from the cliff. Afterwards, transfer to Punta Arenas.
After breakfast and check-out, you will drive to the airport in Punta Arenas and start your journey home or continue your journey individually.

Patagonia is located in the southern hemisphere of the world and therefore its seasons are opposite to those of central Europe. The temperatures in summer / autumn, depending on the weather conditions, are usually between 5 and 20 degrees Celsius. Especially around sunrise, sunset and at night it can become very cold. In addition, strong winds are to be expected regularly. The weather in Patagonia is known for its unpredictability and often changes very quickly.
