Day 1: Arrival to Iceland

Individual arrival to Keflavik. Afterwards, transfer to the hotel near the airport on your own. Of course we will be on the lookout for auroras today.

Day 2: Introduction and first practical exercises

We start the day with an introductory presentation on travel photography, Iceland and aurora photography in particular. Afterwards we will drive to our accommodation at the Golden Circle.

Day 3 to 6: Golden Circle and surroundings

We organize the daily schedule spontaneously on site according to the weather forecast and aurora activity. The highest priority is aurora photography at night. To do this, we go to ideal, dark locations that have no urban “light pollution”.

If aurora observations are unlikely, we will make excursions into the surrounding area. A variety of subjects can make ideal foregrounds for aurora pictures.

Day 7: Drive to Keflavik

During the course of the day, we drive to Reykjavik and on to our hotel in Keflavik.

Day 8: End of the photo tour

The photo tour ends today. You will take your own transfer from the hotel to Keflavik Airport, from where you will start your individual journey home or onwards.

Weather

On the Iceland meteorolgy and weather site you can see the current weather conditions as well as the average temperatures and total precipitation throughout the year. So können Sie sich optimal darauf vorbereiten, was Sie in Island erwartet.

Earthquakes

As a rule earthquakes are only felt from a magnitude value of 3 and above. If necessary, check the earthquake list for the last 7 days.

Fitness level

You have a good basic level of fitness to take part in short, moderate hikes. Depending on the weather, we will go on short, easy hikes of up to one hour.

Clothing

Due to the changeable weather in Iceland, you need to be prepared for all weather conditions. We therefore recommend breathable functional clothing based on the layer principle, which transports sweat to the outside without losing heat and dries quickly.

Half double room

Single travellers can book half of a double room. If there is no other guest who wants to share the room, the single room surcharge will apply.

Insurance

We strongly advise you to purchase insurance for cancellation and return journey costs, which will be needed in the event of a secluded region being evacuated, a local hospital stay or return travel costs to your home country.
